The door was open to a couple of weary travelers. Stepping inside my husband was told they were not open till 15 minutes. Because we wanted this type of food we waited. Husband had butter chicken. It was a very bland, over liquid, stingy with the chicken creation. My chili chicken was supposed to be medium hot. I opened it and... More

Hello while in Hanover me and some friends ate here for lunch. The food was very good and tasty. I did fine the portions to be very small though. None of us have every been here so we didn't realize they close at 2:30 for lunch. Instead of saying politely that they are closed. The staff came over and told... More

The food here is excellent! Love the Shrimp Pakora, Naan, chicken tika masala, and chicken shahi korma. We do takeout quite a bit and it usually takes 10-15 minutes longer than they tell you on the phone, but it is clearly worth the wait!

Not much atmosphere here. Waiter did not appear to enjoy his work. Food was good enough. The samosa breading and the naan were the standouts above other Indian restaurants I've tried. They were generous with the tamarind sauce and mint chutney, for the samosas, which I appreciated. I will probably try this place again when in the area.

A friend and I love to meet at Indian Restaurants generally anywhere in eastern Vermont or southwest New Hampshire. Pickin's are slim with the closure of the India Palace in Brattleboro, so my friend drove up from Brattleboro and we revisited The Jewel of India in Hanover. We joked on the way in not to expect any warm greeting from... More

I rly wish my review here could be a raving one because the food was so good. Unfortunately, it's not. The staff were not as friendly as I felt they should have been and service was slow for being a tuesday evening and only one other party dining in. i was constantly swatting away fruit flies throughout the meal- gross... We lived in England for a year and a half and fell in love with Indian food while living there. It was a bit disappointing coming back to the states where the selection of Indian restaurants is limited. We have found the food at Jewel of India to be very good (not quite what we had in England but definitely... More

The only redeeming part of the service on the day we ate here was the comedic guessing game of wondering what would go wrong next. Missed order? Yup. Bickering staff? Yes. Missing silverware? Got that. The food was fine, and the prices reasonable. Perhaps on another day things would be better, but we kept waiting to see John Cleese pop... More

I often go to lunch at Jewel of India. It is a solid value on par in terms of price, quality, and service, with two other eastern restaurants in town -- The Orient (Chinese/+Sushi) and Yama (Korean/+Sushi). Its not the best Indian restaurant I have ever been to, but for Hanover, it is an excellent choice. I was compelled to... More
