It had been a long time since we visited The Old Salt at Lamie’s Tavern in Hampton, NH. The richly paneled walls created a deep, warm atmosphere that has been enjoyed by diners for years. The extensive menu offered many opportunities for either a full course dinner or standard pub fare. Our orders ranged from steak tips to a seafood... More

The food id good but not as good as the old place that was on the beach before it burnt down. The food is expensive now and not worth the money it costs in my opinion. The service was just OK.

The Old Salt in the last few years was my favorite, but each time I go, including a very recent visit it has been going Downhill ! The Chowder , Fish and Clam, once was among the Best I have ever had, but this past visit was a just a thick pastey crock of bland. Not sure what has happenned... More

My husband and I were out shopping and were in the Hampton area and decided to give the Old Salt another try. We hadn't been there in a few months as we were disappointed by the past meal.. We got a cup of Clam chowder to start. I think it's the best chowder around. Thick, creamy, full of big chunks... More

We had never been there before and for lunch we split the broiled haddock and stuffed shrimp plate. It wasn't bad and it wasn't top notch. We did notice lots of dust on everything. Maybe at lunch the light makes that easy to see. The booths were really beat up and need some refinishing. There are lots of seafood places... More

Hard to believe how much this place has fallen. This used to be a favorite, but the other night it was embarrassingly bad. Granted, they have never figured out how to make a great cole slaw - but this just tasted rotten. I ordered the fried haddock - excellent, no problems. But the monkfish was fishy - we just had... They had great service and wonderful food. We had a meal that included dessert. Because it was an anniversary trip they offered us another dessert for free, but we didn't need it. It was a nice gesture.

Went for lunch with a friend. Had a great waiter helping us. We couldn't decide on clams or scallops. We said we'd order one of each and split them. He said he'd just ask the cook to make up the combos for us.What we ended up with was the best mid-meal ever! Generous portions of scallops and fried clams at... More
