Great atmosphere, loud, good food and drinks

Went with a local who highly recommended this place. Small parking lot for a restaurant this size, or any size. Not sure what happens with the overflow. Very young staff on this weekend night, but fun and pleasant. There's something for everyone for both food and drinks, including a gluten-free... read more

I went to the 401 Tavern last Monday after spending the day walking the Hampton Beach, NH boardwalk. My husband and I had sandwiches and we sat at the bar area. We had turkey club and a cheeseburger. Both were perfect. The booths were filled w/diners, so we opted for the bar. There were 2 bistro tables in the bar... More

Quality of food has gone down hill over our past few visits. We had dinner here in April and the food was disappointing. We had Prime Rib which was tough, the Haddock entrée which seemed to be not all that fresh, an entrée salad which was average and steak tips that were overcooked. We also had a few appetizers to... Well people had another great time at the 401. Megan was our waitress and she was great. The food second to none as always. If you can't tell by now love this place. Took My Bff on a lunch date and it was as my first time here it was incredible. You must give this place a try

We stopped in this renovated house to have a beer, and stayed for more. We were seated upstairs which was more intimate, and there we were amazed at the decor. I'm leaving a little mystery here because you just have to go see it. The food was better than average but simple, and the service staff were pleasant and talkative... More

This restaurant always has a full parking lot which I cannot figure out. It is dark and depressing inside and I have not been impressed with anything I have eaten in there, but I have to say their prices are very good, so I probably answered my own question and to why the parking lot is always full. Not for... More

After reading the reviews on this website, we decided to try the Tavern for lunch. Parked in small parking lot on site. We were seated in a small room that has only 4 booths. Our server immediately came and took our drink order and then our food order. Then she left and was not seen in our room or anywhere... More

In a quaint pub style restaurant in the center of Hampton I was pleasantly surprised with the the wonderful food.. I had one of the best rueben sandwiches I have ever had. Although the server was not attentive but adequate. The atmosphere was a 10 with loads of old pictures. I will return!

I went to lunch at 401 a few times. While it is usually fine if you are in a group, I would avoid it is you are alone and do not like political conversations while you eat. Twice I have been alone and simply wanted to get a quick burger at the bar and then get back to work. On... More

401 is one of our favorite local hangouts! The food is delicious, the environment is cozy, and the staff is friendly. It's a little pricey, but on par with most seacoast dining. Try the mac'n'cheese, prime rib sandwich, or Thai chicken salad!
