Long Wait but Good Food

There are not many restaurants in Franconia, so on the weekend locals and visitors alike pile into them. The Dutch Treat Restaurant appears to be very popular. The food and people watching are good. However, there tends to be long waits (we had to wait 25-30 minutes on a weekend). The servers are... read more

I am a parttime resident of Franconia and try to frequent local restaurants, including the Dutch Treat. I have been to the "Treat" as the locals call it many times and have come away knowing that the food is substandard with lazy service by the wait service. Just last night I ordered Buffalo chicken tenders and French onion soup two... More

Small friendly restaurant with an impressive menu for the locale, including seafood and pasta. Our dinners were wonderful and the service very friendly.

The food was pretty good especially the grilled vegetable sandwich. The best part was the trivial pursuit cards on the table to play with while we waited.

The best thing about this restaurant is that you don't have to worry about whether you have hat hair and are freshly primped to enjoy a good meal. It's got a great local vibe and the menu is more than you would expect. We've never had a bad meal. The service can be slow and sometimes surly, but keep the... More

Don't let the decor fool you; this is, after all, a place where skiers and tourists stop and also the local's sports bar. It was "post-anything" season in the North Country and ALL of our favorite inns were on mid-season vacation, but not this place. What a pleasant surprise--the food was very standard American fare but far from standard! A... More

Could not find food mid afternoon ANYWHERE. Bar was open, no food available and waitress rude when just trying to see menu for later. Menu did look fine - but staff unwelcoming.

Not fancy but many local people eating at this place so food must be average or better. I had the poached Salmon with Champaign capper sauce and it was very good. The restaurants was full with people wait. The service was good and the waitress was humorous. I would recommend this restaurant if you are in the area but don't... More

The dining room was too crowded for dinner - the server's greeting was that "it would be awhile." So we tried the bar, but a drunk loud-mouth made it unenjoyable so we walked out - unnoticed as far as we could tell.
