I live in Fairlee, Vermont, and go up to Franconia a few times each summer, and always eat at Wendel's and have for about 5 years. Call me unimaginative, but I always get the same thing, and it never fails to impress me. What they call the "Hildegard" is a "garden on the grill": a scramble of spinach, onion, potato,... More

This eatery has, at first glance, an appealing ambience. It's funky and, yes, there are daily newspapers available to read. There is an outside porch with five tables, pleasant enough to sit at on a warm day. However, hygiene standards are not good. Look closely and you'll see dirt in all the wrong places. On a recent visit for a... More

Ok, when the wait is 2 hours long at Polly's Pancake House, you grab your phone, go to Yelp or Trip Advisor and find some place else. In this case, it was Wendles. Pros: Great atmosphere. Funky, bohemian with checkerboard tables, couches, philosophical sayings printed on chalkboards. The staff was friendly to us. The french toast was decent. Coffee is unlimited... More

Every time I have visited I've enjoyed the fresh quality of food, the relaxed atmosphere, the ample papers to read, and the yummy after lunch desserts. Whenever I go to Garnet Hill, I have lunch here. Highly recommend!

I had a reasonably priced salad and sandwich, and the people were friendly. There is a restroom for customers.

No one washes their hands! Thank God for stomach acid to kill their germs! The owner is a snotty witch too. I met a friend there & I paid for my breakfast. My friend then went to pay (the owner) & was charged for mine, too! Since you don't get a receipt & they only accept cash, proving I did... More

WiFi, cozy seating and a wide variety of sandwiches, teas and coffees. Staff is very friendly! Perfect lunch spot if you're planning a trip to the Garnet Hill Outlet next door! But cash only!

It is amazing that this restaurant is still in business. The staff is snobby, including the owner, the food is over priced as are the drinks and the people who work there make you feel like it is YOUR honor to be there. I have been there 3 times and 3 strikes and I am out of there forever!!

A very comfortable place to hang out when the temps dip low in New Hampshire. Wendy knows how to made an omlette, a dying art!

Exit 38 off 93 and turn right into tiny town of Franconia. Wendle's is on right. Stopped their twice and enjoyed both visits. Was bummed when I went back for dinner and found they closed at 4 pm
