Good food and atmosphere

I like the ambience here and the view of the river. The food is very good. I had the hangar steak this time, and it was cooked perfectly. The portions are decent, and the prices are reasonable. Service can be a bit slow at times. There's also a small bar area that's cozy and fun.

Room was very cold through out the meal. We had the home made nachos, most of them were over cooked. The couple in the middle that weren't over fried had a nice flavor. The cowboy steak was extremely fatty. Expected a better piece of steak for the price.

Very nice not oversized dining room. Exposed original brick walls. The tables are spaced out well so its not a loud restaurant. Very unique menu. We started w/ Portuguese Mussels. Easily large enough to have as an entree. They were prepared in a Portuguese sausage and tomato based sauce. Very unique and excellent. The Cowboy Rib eye says it comes... More

This place is confusing. Walking in, it seems like a great little pub. The atmosphere is cozy, unless you are in range of the 5 TVs. But the beer list is paltry and the food is expensive. The menu is enticingly written and has prices that get your expectations up, but then the food can be a bit of a... More

My wife and I ate here this Saturday and have always loved this place. However, this was our first time here for lunch and it was nothing to write home about. Our waitress was pleasant but the food was disappointingly average. I ordered a burger and my wife ordered a flat bread pizza. If it wasn't for our waitress, we... More

Stopped by with friends for dinner; this was our first visit although they have been in before. Cozy dining room with exposed brick - very pretty. Food and portions are amazing. French onion soup among the best I've ever had. Huge order of chicken wings! Steaks were ordered a various temperatures and all were cooked perfectly. Many leftovers were taken... More

We had drinks in the bar, then sat downstairs for dinner. It was rather quiet - only 4 tables including us. We had filet mignon and crabcakes. Before we were finished, they were setting up for open mic nite! We stayed for a while, but needed to get up early so we left about 10pm.

We stayed in Exeter overnight and this restaurant was one listed in the hotel guide as being close by. Downtown angle parking which might be an issue on a busy night. BUT what a delicious dinner. We got there about 5. Dining room seating begins at 5:30 but there are tables and bar seating available earlier. We sat at the... More

We ate last night at the River's Edge. The food and service were exception. I had Filet Mignon and my honey A Seafood Curry Stew both were exceptional. Drinks were well made and of a healthy portion. The bar can be noisy but the dinning area is quite and lovely with exposed brick.

Leave it to us to stay in the only town in America that doesn't celebrate the 4th of July. Exeter's has their celebration on the 18th, but that's a whole other story. We were walking along the quiet streets, of the historic district and saw the the Tavern's sign. We were the only ones there, when they opened at 3... More
