Heading to our summer home, we stopped in Exeter for a quick bite before continuing on. Found the Tavern listed on the GPS & decided to take a chance. It's not your usual tavern. Very warn and charming. The food was several cuts above typical tavern food, excellent service, & good prices. We'll be back

I came here looking for some good after a hockey game and got the best Caesar salad I have ever had, the stake tips on my salad were cooked to perfection and the portions were huge, you definitely get your money's worth. I recommend trying it out!!

My husband and I have come to this restaurant a few times now and have really enjoyed the food. Their risotto is very good and the flank steak dish is out of this world. There is a bar and the dinning area is small and intimate. I must say that this venue is trying to be a bit more upscale... More

The first two times I went, the food was very good. After that, the food was horrible. However, we went another half a dozen times to give them a chance. The last time we went I couldn't even eat the food. I ordered the steak tips with mashed potatoes. The potatoes were cold and the steak tips were so chewy... More

Was staying in Exeter for business and the hotel told me about this Tavern. Ate dinner at the bar and it is a very noisy place. The servers at the bar were very nice but laid back and took their time. Ordered a side salad and one of the nightly specials, prime rib. Salad took a while to come out... More

I had tuna steak over a pear slaw, my husband prime rib over comfort food potatoes, best dinner we've had in ages! Fabulous! Quiet, delicious, friendly, a great combination!

Nothing was too much trouble here and we were well-looked after with our party of mixed age groups. The soups, bread, salads, mussels and deserts were all tried and enjoyed. Fresh. high quality ingredients well put together and served. Bathroom was fine. So much better and more enjoyable in every way than other, more pretentious places in the locality.

The menu was a bit eclectic for us. Good entrees but you had to watch what they were paired with. Not a very large menu. We were disappointed that the menu posted on the site did not match what was offered. But try the French Onion soup. Great. Wonderful broth. Very tasty. It can be hard to find the restaurant.... Not that its a bad thing to focus on being a bar. Ha. I ate in the bar area, but had full meal. Our server recommended the house nachos as a good-with-beer start. And they were indeed. Different and a lot - easily enough for 2, maybe even 4 if you eat after. I would skip getting a meat added,... More
