I had dinner here a few nights ago with my husband. Our server was Derek, he reeked of smoke, and was not very attentive to say the least. He greeted us rather promptly but left before we could even put in our drink order. Once we did, it took a good 15 minutes to get them even though the restaurant... More

Epoch is by far the mix of fine dinning and exceptional customer service. The experience of New England was captured in the presentation of sea scallops bedded on Polenta, with Broccoli Rabe, and Lobster Brown Butter was truly remarkable. The wait staff attended to our every need like you were in a five star restaurant. My wife and I found... More

Dear Michael, We are so happy that you had and an excellent experience with us! The scallop dish is by far one of our most popular menu items. It became part of our new seasonal menu a few weeks ago. I'm very proud of our staff here and we take every guest's experience to heart. It really means a lot... More

Three of us went for dinner at Epoch, and were delighted with our evening. The new chef has created an interesting menu. We like being able to order half sizes on some entrees, as then we do a starter, an entrée, and a dessert each, so we get to try lots of dishes. We liked everything that we chose. The... More

Dear Karen, Thank you for your review of Epoch Restaurant at the Exeter Inn! We've been receiving some great reviews of our chef, Ben Chesley. He's truly passionate about food and it shows. I also like to think that we are unique in that we offer the smaller portions. It's been a winner with our guests. Thanks again, we look... More

We loved everything we tried and were very impressed with the choices. They stick to mainly farm-to-table style, locally sourced ingredients. We had breakfast and dinner. My picky son and I both found lots to enjoy. He had stuffed french toast and I had excellent oatmeal; all fresh. Late night desserts were a great indulgence after a long day of... More

Dear cownslur, I was thrilled about your comments on our food. We have worked very hard to source locally and our chefs take great pride in making that happen. Our breakfast menu has really taken off this year and our dessert menu is very unique. We also take comments on our service very seriously and our professional wait staff take... More

We chose the bed and breakfast option, when booking our room. The breakfast was delicious. However, I would ask the server to be sure they blot the bacon before serving and go light on buttering the toast/english muffin ( or have the butter on the side).

Dear Mybaxter, I'm happy to hear that you enjoyed our breakfast. We have only been serving breakfast for about a year and it's proven to be a huge success and a great addition to our lunch and dinner menu. The Bed and Breakfast option was a great choice too! We'll also take your comments about the bacon and butter to... More

I've visited Epoch off and on over the years as it has changed hands: eating at the bar or the patio. Unfortunately, nothing has changed for the better. I visited for dinner with some friends about 5:30pm on a week day. We sat in the lounge at a high bar top table for three. The server greeted us with waters... More

I ate here with my husband on Saturday. The restaurant was not crowded so we were seated right away. I thought the drinks were overpriced; the food was pricey too, but very good. I ordered the duck- it was a little rare for my taste, but otherwise tasty, as were the lentils. My husband had the pork which he said... More

For a steak restaurant, their steaks are not all that good. Also, they come with their special oregano Parmesan fries that were cold and soggy. And service is slow. Wine selection by the glass is not very good. I would try something else in Exeter before coming here.

Went to Epoch on a nice summer weeknight specifically to eat out on the “garden patio”. Once we pulled into the parking lot we were greeted by a two story air conditioner that sounded like an airplane engine. Although off to the side of the patio it was a constant noise that deterred the beautiful ambiance of the patio itself.... More
