Expensive menu, fishy stinky restaurant that was so awful I got the sense they were about to close. NO SURPRISE! I looked it up after we got home and it is on the market. We had a terrible lunch and the owner (who used to be terrific, I think she is the daughter of the mother/daughter owner pair) had no... More

New to the area so I tried it and it was really good. The waitress is one of the nicest people I've ever meet. She recommended the jumbo shrimp and scallops, they were so good ! Lightly fried and seasoned perfect !!!

Service, price & food are great and definitely worth a visit to The Fish Shanty. In business atire or jeans you'll fit in just fine. Great place for lunch & dinner. I love the lobster bisque and the fish sandwich. The fisherman's platter can easily be split by 2 or 3 people with leftovers. Not to mention the homemade tartar... More

My wife and I were in town for a few hours on a Friday night and went in search of a decent meal. It would either be Chinese or seafood. I'm glad we chose the seafood. I remember going to a Fish Shanty in Portsmouth years ago, and they always had great food. So when I saw one in Dover,... More

We where in Dover on a Sunday afternoon looking for a nice 'non chain' lunch spot so we parked on their scenic Main Street and just started poking around and looking at menus. Quite a few places to eat in town but the Shanty menu caught our attention. We ordered the fried vegetable appetizer to start and it was delicious.... More

You get your typical american seafood cuisine here. The fried and the baked. The clam chowder wasn't bad though.

I was looking for an alternative to my usual seafood places. Based on the positive reviews here, I decided to give this place a try. Unfortunately, while not bad, Shanty doesn't seem worth the drive out to Dover. First I ordered the seafood chowder. I was hoping for the thinner, more buttery New England style chowder but they only offer... More

I used to live in Dover, and this was a favorite stop 2-3 times a month. In the coldest of winter I would stop and get a quart of lobster bisque to go, and enjoy it at home. Every meal I have had at the Fish Shanty was excellent - well seasoned, well prepared, well presented. The staff are friendly... More

Many to here for the fried fish and French fries. But according to my mother, they have a healthier option. Their seafood chowder is very good and a great option when you go for dinner.
