Just OK

We went for take-out dinner - fish and chips were good and fairly priced. Haddock dinner not so much - the sides out-portioned the fish, everythng was drowned in a dill sauce and way overpriced for what you got. We paid before our meals arrived and the hostess assumed she was keeping the $6... read more

We didn't know where to go for dinner last Friday night and happened to find this restaurant. What a great find! The food was fantastic. I had the crabcakes. The waitress was very attentive without interrupting which is something I really appreciate. We had the table in the bar area that is overlooking the lake. I would say great atmosphere!... More

The food tasted good, but our waitress wasn't very friendly. Several seats had food on them and needed to be cleaned again. The menu was pretty limited, not much more than salads, wraps and sandwiches.

My daughter and I stopped by here on our way to Squam Lake Science Center with our Breathe NH Fun Pass. I enjoyed a turkey club and a side salad. The salad was fresh farm lettuce and juicy tomatoes. The turkey club was full and delicious. There was only one waitress for the whole restaurant, but she was able to... More

My wife and I decided to go out to dinner and see the Women's World Cup. The Mug advertised that they were showing it on tv. Great idea but they weren't prepared for the crowd. Definitely understaffed and unprepared. We have visited The Mug before and it's o.k. for the basic burger etc and adds a lot of local flavor.... More

We've visited the same area in Holderness for 7 years but never went to the Mug, even though it's right on the way to Meredith. But, looking for a place to take the kids and friends for dinner that was easy and nearby, we decided to give it a try. The TripAdvisor reviews gave me a little pause, but we... More

The Mug is a great place for individuals or families looking for good food at a fair price. The atmosphere is very casual so no need to dress up - tee shirts, shorts and flip flops are fine. The burgers are outstanding! The owner buys freshly ground beef each day at the local market so no fear that they are... More

This is a place where locals meet to drink and watch or play games. The food is basic, the dining room is dark, and without adornment or atmosphere, so this is not a place for romantic first dates. I was here on two occasions, and ordered meal-sized salads on both of them. One one occasion the lettuce was crisp and... More

Finally, we made it to this restaurant. Our son and his wife were visiting, wife is in the hospital. Well, the atmosphere is anything but pleasing. No table cloth, its dark inside, terrible noise due to a low ceiling etc.. But the food was excellent and reasonable. I could not take my wife to the Mug as for her the... More
