Paddle yourself over to the Canoe for a great meal

My daughters and a friend ate at the Canoe in July of this year. We took my husband there last Thursday night with the hopes that it was going to be just as good as it was in July. We were not disappointed. Our waitress, Amy

Greek salad included stalks of romaine lettuce... why? Clam chowder was floury and tasteless. Shrimp lo mein featured watery noodles in what could have been canned baby shrimp and a whole bunch of vegetables including summer squash, which of course is very common in Lo mein. Huh? Go somewhere else for decent food.

We stopped here for lunch. The menu has a nice varied selection. When looking around at the other diner's food, I noticed the huge portions for the money. The day we stopped the bar was open but no bartender so the food servers handled the bar requests. A couple could easily share a lunch and then have room to share... More

On Lake Winnipesaukee, this chef owned restaurant serves up a variety of good food in a very relaxed atmosphere. If visiting the Lakes Region, this is definitely worth the drop in for lunch or dinner.

They have an upstairs and down, an outside deck too. You have to try the dumplings and the lobster mac and cheese!! Huge portion!! Hours are limited until prime summer time so call ahead to ensure they are open. Calamari is great too. We go for special occasions and for drinks and apps. It's a staple in center harbor!!

Go in the afternoon and you can get a good meal without paying the high night time price. If you go to Center harbor with your boat you can make a reservation and they will pick you up with a shuttle. They have the best New England chips in the area.

An absolute treat -- Canoe is a great balance. It would be perfect for a casual night out, as much as it was excellent for our anniversary dinner. The food, drink and flavor are top-notch. Get the calamari, it alone is worth the trip.

We seem to hit The Canoe once a year on our weekend away. We get there for a late lunch on a Thursday, so there are not many other diners. The waiter / waitress has always been prompt without hovering. They have perfected the art of giving an honest opinion about menu choices without saying anything bad. This last time,... More

Here in the lakes region finding great food is a challenge. Most restaurants serve off the Cysco Truck as we call it. Canoe offers some very different and fresh items on their menu. Reasonably priced and great portions. One of our favorites in the area.

After years of hearing great things about Canoe I finally made it last night for dinner with my husband, and we were very glad we did. My husband had the seafood stir fry which he said was the best he ever had and I had the Canoe tips which were also very good. The mussels on special as an appetizer... More
