We were going to eat at the Woodstock Inn, but the baby was cranky. By the time we made it to Exit 28 he had a little nap and was happy. So we decided to stop here. We were pleasantly surprised. We were hungry so ordered some Nachos before our meal. Everyone agreed they were some of the best nachos... More

My husband and I went to the Mad River Tavern on the advice of a local. The restaurant is very inviting and there was a musician playing while we were there. Our server, Jennifer, was great. We ordered fish and chips but the fish was disgustingly greasy and the fries were cold. Jennifer immediately offered to get us something else.... More

We go here fairly often for dinner. The food is always good, the menu is diverse, and the atmosphere is relaxed. The staff is friendly and sometimes the owner will come over and check to see how you are doing. We like to go to Mexican Night on Wednesdays, which they've been doing for a long time. Would definitely recommend.... More

This restaurant is always one that we visit when we go to Waterville. Again, they met our expectations on the July 4th weekend. We were seated immediately and our waiter, Christoher, was exceptional. I had the prime rib which was cooked the way I wanted and tasted very good. My wife had salmon and was very pleased with her choice.... More

Mad River Tavern used to be our old standby for things like Birthday and anniversary dinners. It was nice, but pricey, and good for the special occasions. We recently went back for a birthday, and sad to say this is the LAST time we go until another new owner. My steak was 50/50 meat to fat!! She took our order... More

Sorry to say that this place - which has a special place in my heart - has finally sent me packing. The decline in food quality has been the last straw. I'll still go back occasionally because it has been my Friday night for so long - but unless you like incredibly mediocre bar food (most from frozen packages) and... More

Was going to the Blue Moon but found it closed on Tuesdays off season. Went to the closest place open, the Mad River Tavern. A great happy accident. Had the ribs, full rack. Expected the usual thin ribs with 50/50 ratio of meat to bone. These were extremely meaty and flavorful. Had to take half home. For $18.99 a real... More

The food is good, but very expensive. We all were very conscious of our food choices due to the prices being charged. What food we had was okay, but this isn't a place I would return again.
