Perfect Post-Hike Eats

Came here for a late lunch after the Welch-Dickey hike. We were all starving and the menu and food was perfect for our group of 6. Burgers rocked!

We went to the Mad River Tavern for lunch on Labor Day Weekend during leaf-peeking season. We expected it to be busy. It was not. The parking lot had about six cars. As we were getting out of our car, an elderly couple in the vehicle next to ours called to us. The woman said that they were confused. They... More

We have been going to The Mad River Tavern for at least 20 years. You always knew the food would be good and the service professional and friendly. I don't like saying it but our last visit was our last visit! It started out in the parking lot where we saw many young workers smoking and joking around. The on... More

A local restaurant that was a nice find. We saw this restaurant reviewed well on the web so we stopped because we were in the area and we were glad we did. Nice atmosphere and very good food. Deserves the good reviews. Our server, Emily, was outstanding. She was very personable and efficient. The bar area was hppin' and seemed... More

The first time we went it was really fantastic. We actually had to search it out to go again we just couldn't forget how great it was. The prices are fair food was above average. The best onion rings south of Ellsworth Me. You have to try them if you like onion rings. Restaurant needs a scrub and some updating... More

After hiking in the Whites over Labor Day weekend my hiking partner and I stopped at MRT for lunch. I have frequented here many times in the past usually during ski season and found the restaurant very quiet. No one seated at tables and just a few at the bar. I ordered the bink and my buddy ordered the pulled... More

My husband and I stopped here on our way back to our B&B after a day of sightseeing and hiking. I ordered the cioppino which was full of shrimp, spicy and very flavorful. My husband ordered tortellini with chicken which was also very good. The only problem was the portions were very large and we didn't have a refrigerator in... More

I have been camping in the Woodstock, NH area for at least 20 years and for the longest time MRT was the place to go to for lunch, dinner and anything in between. That is not the case now. This restaurant has steadily gone downhill over the past 5 years and is no longer worth the stop. While on vacation... More

We were traveling north on 93, stopped at Mad River, just a mile from exit. We hit a quiet time in bar. We asked for fresh brewed decaf and they obliged. She had a hadock sandwich and I the pulled pork. Very nice Tavern sandwiches, the bartender had 4 bar patrons and 3 tables and she did a great job.... More
