Good Food..Decent Prices

Right off highway, easy on and off. Food was good but not great, nothing special to set it apart or distinguish it from any other pub/ bar that serves food.

We have been going to the Mad River Tavern for over 25 years. We went recently and salads are now extra. The pop corn machine is gone. Food is still pretty good but it is clear that rather than raise prices things disappeared. The superburger used to have a whole portobello mushroom cap. Now it is a couple strips. Still... More

I have come to this place several times over the years, and have always enjoyed it. Great food, good people and a welcoming local atmosphere. However, the last 2 times I visited the tavern (once in April and once in June), it was phenomenal. The food seems to have a finer edge to it. It's the same comfort driven tavern... More

Food is less than good. Staff very friendly. Onion soup salty and more like what you might serve over prime rib. Blue cheese wedge salad very little bacon, chicken seemed like it was packaged. Chewy and slightly under cooked. Not hot like off a grill at all. Steak tips ok. Corn (not in season) was puckered like it was cooked,... More

We discovered this place when we were looking for property to build a house for our retirement. Our innkeeper suggested it. We walked in on Halloween and it was filled with locals and carved pumpkins (this was 15 years ago - no more carved pumpkins). Atmosphere terrific, food good - except for the onion soup - the best I have... More

I did not go in expecting much but the food here was very good. We started with the fried Calamari which was some of the best Calamari that I have ever had. We ordered a slightly larger salad that came with our seafood newburg which was just an OK salad. I prefer the darker greens to the iceberg that comes... More

My friend and I ate here on Monday night. We both ordered the fish and chips and substituted a baked potato for the fries. The fish was fresh the food was hot, and the bread is definitely worth the calories. Would return here to eat in a heartbeat and try their pie for sure!

Good eats and a nice beer selection. Friendly staff and a warm feel to the decor. All in all a nice place to grab a drink and an appetizer after hitting the slopes.

Awesome cozy feeling as soon as you enter the coffee house. Every time we stay at Waterville Valley we HAVE to get coffee (and a snack) here! I am a Dunkin Donut junkie but this rivals DD! And there's a DD across the street! Love the homemade baked cookies, muffins and bread... Definitely a great little place! And they have live... More

The atmosphere here was quaint and romantic as we sat in a corner table with plenty of privacy. Dinner was exceptional. Great flavor, Delmonico steak that you could cut with a fork. Portions were way beyond average as well as the side dishes. Wait staff was excellent. Definitely return here.
