Quality Pulled Pork Lunch

We were traveling north on 93, stopped at Mad River, just a mile from exit. We hit a quiet time in bar. We asked for fresh brewed decaf and they obliged. She had a hadock sandwich and I the pulled pork. Very nice Tavern sandwiches, the bartender had 4 bar patrons and 3 tables and she did a... read more

I have been camping in the Woodstock, NH area for at least 20 years and for the longest time MRT was the place to go to for lunch, dinner and anything in between. That is not the case now. This restaurant has steadily gone downhill over the past 5 years and is no longer worth the stop. While on vacation... More

On our last night visiting Waterville Valley we decided to go to Mad River Tavern, a place we had eaten at for many years while owning a home in Campton. What a mistake it was. Two kid's meals and the nachos were good but the 5 adults all had disappointing meals. "Out of filets" so 2 ordered Delmonico steak on... More

Ordered the pasta with pesto and my husband ordered the rib eye. My pasta was a bit overcooked and the pesto didn't have enough kick to it. His meal was better. The steak was a bit thin but cooked correctly and had decent enough flavor. Waitress was nice and prompt.

My first visit to Mad River Tavern was very positive. The menu is what you would expect from a tavern: salads, plenty of burger options, and a good variety of entree options. They also have a good selection of beer on tap. Our party of four ordered two salads, a burger, and an entree. The salads were fresh and nicely... More

Stopped in for lunch on our way to do some sight seeing and were very pleased. Most got sandwiches and burgers, I got the nachos and they were as delicious as they were huge. Service was good, restaurant was clean except for dirty ketchup bottle but no big deal. Good selection for a group of people.

We have been going to the Mad River Tavern for over 25 years. We went recently and salads are now extra. The pop corn machine is gone. Food is still pretty good but it is clear that rather than raise prices things disappeared. The superburger used to have a whole portobello mushroom cap. Now it is a couple strips. Still... More

I have come to this place several times over the years, and have always enjoyed it. Great food, good people and a welcoming local atmosphere. However, the last 2 times I visited the tavern (once in April and once in June), it was phenomenal. The food seems to have a finer edge to it. It's the same comfort driven tavern... More
