Sage opened this July and needs to be more widely advertised. It's a great addition to the limited local scene. Lively and attentive staff, good food, great desserts, generous pours of wine by the glass. Try date night at the Colonial followed by dinner at Sage. Chicken curry soup was particularly memorable. Bison burger was perfectly cooked to order (rare).... More

great food- very fresh ingredients and some unique flavors. For being in such a small town, it had the quality you'd find in a large city. I had the noddle soup with lobster sausage- delicious, and my husband had the meatloaf which was anything but ordinary. The drinks were fantastic too.

We ate at Root twice during our recent trip to the area. Portions are perfectly sized - not the usual plate piled high. First meal was very pleasant but we were near the door and the place was cool almost chilly. Could do with a heater at the door. Second meal was quite poor with the steak being over cooked... More

Our party of four enjoyed our dinners. Everyone thought they were very good. Appetizers were also good as well as the special drinks they make. Next time we will pass on the starters and have dessert. They looked good. The staff was friendly and efficient. Will definitely go back when we are in the area.

Root is small and cozy. We found the food a bit too eclectic for our taste. So we ordered a selection of starters. They were good; but not outstanding. The bottle of white wine we ordered was not chilled; not even really cool. We closed the place down at 8:30. Probably would not go back there again.

Our evening at Root was one of the memorable ones of our vacation. The staff were amazingly friendly, the food was superb (perfectly sized portions) - the ribs and steak were probablt the best we’ve ever had. We skipped a starter to hopefully be able to manage desert – and again the Apple Crisp was amazing – I just wish... More

My brother is sometimes given to hyperbole, but this time he was pretty much on the mark when commenting on his recent meal at Root. For nearly a year we have been visiting Root and each time we have not been disappointed. This time, Rich, the cook, greeted us with a basket of freshly picked matsutake mushrooms, brought in that... At last food as it should be. From the field to the table with an able Chef in between. Never thought I would have Elk to eat despite my good fortune of spending half of the year in South Africa with it's choice of meats. Just go to Root don't Route around and waste your time.

One of the restaurants that is part of this farm to table movement spreading across the country. Short-menu list but well prepared dishes. We had their beet salad for starters, this was good then I had their rib-eye, this was excellent. My wife had their chicken breast which was so-so. Excellent creme-brulee. And don't miss their unique cocktails. Excellent service.
