First of all I thought our waitress was pretty rude as in not friendly at all. We went there for breakfast to try out the pancakes that everyone raved about. I thought they were nasty tasting. Too sweet. Their motto is that they give you a full plate. They do. But they give you this super huge pancake that fills... More

Black Bear dinners have great food and huge portions. You won't walk away hungry. It was clean and the service was great for both dinner and breakfast. If you haven't been to one, make it a point to search one out on your next trip or just plan a trip to Sparks. You will enjoy it.

We had a late breakfast here - eggs, waffles, omelet, hash browns. Everything was good - nothing out of the ordinary for breakfast fare. The hubby had the hash browns, of which I tasted - they were really good. Appeared to have been homemade. The people who work here seem to be very happy. Who we assumed to be the... More

Been to about 4 Black Bears so far, in OR and CA and this one was just as top-notch. Delicious breakfast omelettes and scrambles, with huge homemade biscuits. Plus this one had one of the friendliest most upbeat waitresses we've had in a very long time!

You get a lot of home cooked food for small amount of money. If you leave hungry it's your own fault!

When ever we are on the road or visiting a new city, we always look for a black bear diner. Ever since we first visited the Black Bear Diner in Shasta, Ca that was the first of the chain and had just opened back in 1995, we have never been disappointed with the good food or good service. Always enough... More

We ordered from the lighter fare menu. I had the pork bbq ribs which were perhaps a little over-cooked and a bit fatty, but didn't stop me from eating it all. Good service, not terribly busy, which can be a plus. This is my 4th Black Bear diner to eat at. I like the decor and relatively low noise level,... More

For at least 4 years now, we eat here very regularly (anywhere from once a week to once every two weeks). They serve home style diner cuisine in "bear size" portions. They also offer smaller sized ones on their "little less" menu section..The restaurant is decorated in bears and usually has a free jukebox going. We regularly order the Tri-tip... More

This is a wonderful place for eating out with your children, especially for breakfast! We typically go to the Black Bear Diner off of S. Virginia in Reno but today, we stopped here for a late breakfast after running errands. They have plenty of tasty menu options for kids including a huge portion of choco-chip pancakes for only $3.99! We... More
