Tired after long golf day. Saw Black Bear review and stopped on way back to hotel. Had a very good basic meal at a very good price. Service was very good.

Black Bear Diners are always a good option. Large portions at a good price are a plus. I have eaten at many of them (including the original in Mt. Shasta, Ca.) and have never had a bad meal. My husband loves the chicken fried steak- no other competes. All meals are good. Service can vary but usually ok.

My Husband and I were visiting the Reno area and had breakfast several times at The Black Bear Diner. I liked the healthy options they offered. The service was great, coffee was hot and the bear theme was cute.

First of all I thought our waitress was pretty rude as in not friendly at all. We went there for breakfast to try out the pancakes that everyone raved about. I thought they were nasty tasting. Too sweet. Their motto is that they give you a full plate. They do. But they give you this super huge pancake that fills... More

Black Bear dinners have great food and huge portions. You won't walk away hungry. It was clean and the service was great for both dinner and breakfast. If you haven't been to one, make it a point to search one out on your next trip or just plan a trip to Sparks. You will enjoy it.

We had a late breakfast here - eggs, waffles, omelet, hash browns. Everything was good - nothing out of the ordinary for breakfast fare. The hubby had the hash browns, of which I tasted - they were really good. Appeared to have been homemade. The people who work here seem to be very happy. Who we assumed to be the... More

Been to about 4 Black Bears so far, in OR and CA and this one was just as top-notch. Delicious breakfast omelettes and scrambles, with huge homemade biscuits. Plus this one had one of the friendliest most upbeat waitresses we've had in a very long time!

When ever we are on the road or visiting a new city, we always look for a black bear diner. Ever since we first visited the Black Bear Diner in Shasta, Ca that was the first of the chain and had just opened back in 1995, we have never been disappointed with the good food or good service. Always enough... More
