I've eaten at several Black Bear Diners in Nevada and Oregon and there pretty consistent. Go hungry because the portions are HUGE.

The Black Bear restaurant is a short walk from the Peppermill. We ate there 9/16/2014, because we were no longer going to spend any more money at the Peppermill. We walked to the Black Bear Diner and ordered breakfast. They serve large portions of food and you will not go away from there hungry. We've never had a bad meal... More

Good value and good food. Service was very good and fast. Nice clean atmosphere. They have a fondness for bears!

He had the pot roast, I opted for the pork topped with spiced apples. Yum. Portions supposedly came in small size but you'd never know it from what was on my plate. Loved it.

When we first found this chain 3 weeks ago, we were drawn in by the chainsaw-carved bears in front of the place, and assumed that was characteristic of all restaurants in the chain. Not so. Here in Reno, the bears are inside and stuffed, or painted on the walls, napkins and dishes. It's the same great food and fast and... More

While waiting for my flight out, I ended up here for a late afternoon meal. I think any fast food place would have been better. This was the worst steak I have ever had. Half of it was gristle or inedible, while the other half was so tough my jaw hurt. The potato serving was huge but covered by an... More

This is one great place to eat. Large portions and fresh, quality ingredients. My husband loves the chicken fried steak-no other seems to compare. Any of the breakfast items are good! They are always busy- the word is out!

We have eaten at Black Bear in Reno several times and have always been happy with both the food and service. We enjoyed the vegetarian omelet that came with fruit and a country biscuit. The portion was large enough to share, and you can substitute egg beaters if you ask (no extra charge). The place is always busy, and the... More

Best cure for a hangover! The chicken fried steak is HUGE. You'll always have enough to share or take home. Cheap prices and ok locations.

Good place for breakfast. The portions are huge so if you aren't that hungry I would really suggest sharing. Unfortunately this morning our service was poor and slow but it's our go to for breakfast so we will be going back.
