Good place for breakfast. The portions are huge so if you aren't that hungry I would really suggest sharing. Unfortunately this morning our service was poor and slow but it's our go to for breakfast so we will be going back.

Had diner here with my family, the food, service and atmosphere was so very, very good However the surrounding area seemed really dodgy and unsafe. I would not take my kids here after dark, which is a pity as the Diner once inside is awesome

We were staying at the Peppermill Casino just down the block from this diner and had the good fortune to stumble into the BBD. We had three breakfasts and one dinner here and loved every one of them. The staff is eclectic and charming, the service was fun and entertaining and the food was just what one expected - high... More

My wife and I have eaten here once last year during Hot August Nights, and enjoyed it. This year we came in on a Friday Night during Hot August Nights, and I expected it would be busy. It was fairly busy, but we were seated within 5 minutes of arrival. Our waitress showed up and took our drink order, and... More

We live near Reno and have several favorite restaurants in the area. As we were in a part of town that we are not normally near we decided to try a new restaurant and chose the Black Bear Diner as we had eaten at a different BBD location and liked it in the past. Boy were we disappointed! Hot August... More

The Black Bear Diner makes everything fresh in it's bakery and kitchen. From the cinnamon bun French toast (fabulous) to the chicken fried steak and grilled salmon, the food is just like mom cooked. They also have fresh baked coblers and pies. The prices are very reasonable. On our recent trip to Reno, we ate at this restaurant about 7... More

Planning to have my 80th birthday dinner here - we arrived around 2pm - July 25th - in between lunch and dinner it was easy to find a comfortable booth - Our server came to offer their menu on a printed small newspaper edition dated 1929 with articles and commercial ads of the era - with menu on the inside... The wait was short and the breakfast was just right with potatoes, eggs and great sausage. Service was great and the food came quickly.

We have eaten here several times and have never been disappointed. The food is tasty, plentiful, and the staff is efficient. This time we had the sweet cream waffle, 2 eggs, and 2 strips of bacon. Everything was delicious. We usually go for breakfast, but the lunch is also good.
