We dropped by the Overland Hotel Basque Restaurant while staying nearby In Markleeville, CA. Children and grandchildren plus one other family of four were all camping nearby. It was pleasant place to go as a group of 12 people, youngest being 7 years old. A comfortable family ambience with large tables to accommodate the group. They offer full meals, bread... More

This is a warm, friendly family style Basque restaurant. The soup was outstanding, the salad was very good, the entrees (we had the fried chicken and shrimp) were plentiful and the sides were really yummy. Even the ice cream for dessert was tasty!

This restaurant was recommended by the lady at the visitors center, so we made a special side trip to eat here. It was interesting. They serve family style or you can order an entree or sandwich. My husband ordered the chicken sandwich, which consisted of one half chicken, a salad, and French fries. He said it was very good...and cleaned... More

I am Spanish and very fond of Basque food! Mrs. Elvira, the owner is a wonderful lady and we even changed our travel plans to be able to have dinner at her restaurant. The food was amazing, really authentic, tasty and in extremely generous portions! Do not miss this family-style Basque experience!! :)

Tile floor and plastic tablecloths don't help the customers feel a "fine dining" experience. More like a Basque Denny's.

I don't know why they call this a Basque Restaurant. We stopped for lunch. Very limited menu. My husband had the friend chicken. When it arrived, he took one bite and said it tasted "funny". After checking it out further, it smelled like the chicken was old and smelled really bad. I ordered the shrimp salad. It was horrible. The... More

My Wife and I have had some really great meals at Basque restaurants in California and Nevada. Unfortunately we don’t love near any of them. The nearest is in Gardnerville, a two-hour drive, so we drove up there to give the Overland Hotel a try. Maybe we’d built our hopes up too much. We had a seem-traditional Basque meal. Since... More

This place is Great to have a four course family style meal. You first get soup, bread and butter. Then a bowl of their house salad and the entree of the day. Next was your meal that you order (which I got Halibut) last but not least was a cup of ice cream and coffee. I recommend this place for... More
