I was taken to this restaurant by a friend and what a surprise. The food was extremely good and lots of it. The two of us spent $20 and we walked out of the place stuffed. We had to take boxes back to the hotel because the servings are ginormous! The food was excellent but the service was even better-friendly... More

Food and wait was fast. Great family style and tons of food. Might think of splitting a meal or you will have a few to go boxes. Could us a little updating in the bar. Signature drink is worth it. Service was good and for the amount of food, prices are worth it

We ended up in Elko on a cross country driving trip. It is a professional gold mining town in the middle of the desert. We weren't sure what to expect, but we were more than pleasantly surprised to find the star. There was a long wait for a table, so we sat at the bar. I tried a Picon Punch,... More

This popular restaurant certainly lived up to my expectations. They have a decent wine selection and a lively bar scene. People were friendly and social. Seating is at long communal tables and food is served family style. The different courses were so delicious, especially wonderful was the cabbage soup and salad. Fortunately they offer just the courses; I don't know... More

We have been guests of The Star many times. It is a delightful place that is ALWAYS busy. They are busy for a reason - great food, HUGE entrees, and a provincial charm that matches Elko's own. Ignore the grouses who leave poor reviews - they don't have any appreciation for the success of The Star and like most who... More

The food was excellent. I happen to like fresh homemade bread, a nice cabbage soup and a good meal overall. Do order the steak. My husband got the petit filet, I go the lamb and I kept trying to steal his steak. The lamb was not bad, the filet was excellent. Got to taste the Picon Punch, which was lethal... More

This was my first visit and not knowing they closed between lunch and dinner I arrived shortly after 4PM when only the bar was open. The bartender was very pleasant and let me sit at a table out of the way where I could do some work. A local saw me sitting alone and came over and told me the... More

I have not had a meal like this since 1962. Canned beans, canned green beans, and spaghetti that could have come out of a can, soup that I would imagine could be served in the Gulag prisons, and "fresh baked" bread that reminded me of wonder bread. The entrees (grilled chicken and panned fried trout) were tasteless and greasy. We... More

If you love basque food, you better eat here, best in the USA. Trust me, people come from SLC, UT just to eat here. It is an open seating type room, but the food is wonderful, they bring it to you in open trays (and no skimping here) and you eat until you are so stuffed, as the food is... More

Never seen a T-bone steak that big. Impossible to eat it all. Thankfully, our host has a dog. French fries and baked beans were also most enjoyable. Four of us shared a fabulous bread pudding for desert. Served family style with soup, salad, fries and veg, it was a memorable experience.
