Located on the main drag in Nevada's state capital, Carson City, Sassafras Eclectic Food Joint is not well organized, kitchen staff frequent the dining area for clarification, servers are hard tpo find when you need your check... The food was organic and tasty, the price was ridiculous, made Whole Foods pricing seem like whole sale, time and $$ better spend... More

When it says "eclectic" it means it, as the menu is a conglomeration of several different cuisines. The person who can't find something on the menu to enjoy is far too picky and should only eat at home. The service is average, the food better than average, the waitstaff are pleasant under trying circumstances, and it is open later than... More

As much as we enjoy Sassafras, especially the Wednesday night open mike Jazz at Plan B, they have lost their lease as of the end of July 2014. They will be missed.

We ate here twice during our stay in Carson City. They don't advertise it very loudly, but at the bottom of your receipt, you can get a 10% discount if you dine again there within 3 days. The first night we had a veggie burger and pizza, as well as salads. The second night we had tuna and salmon. The... More

Sassafras is a cute spot in the heart of downtown Carson City. They have a quaint and comfortable dining room, also a bar in the very back of their space in the building. The menu has many choices and the word Eclectic fits well. You can get anything from a pizza to a burger or salad or sandwich. Most options... More

The service was average, I had the fried cheese burger-the burger was cooked well but the fries were soggy and the Bloody Mary I ordered had so much horseradish I had a hard time sucking it thru the straw-it was way too overpowering and I couldn't drink it, the infused chile vodka was enough flavor on its own - three... Varied menu to please everyone in the family, we had fried cheese cheeseburger, candied praline bacon burger, blue cheese slaw, Yukon gold potato salad, pineapple Serrano Popsicle and blackberry ginger Popsicle. Oh and chicken tenders/fries for kids. 1:15pm on a Thursday and business was still brisk but service good.

Passing through Carson and ate here because the "Basil" restaurant across the street was out of business. So glad we did! The atmosphere is unique as is the food.I ordered the beet salad and my friend ordered the farmer's market salad. Then we had a strawberry and cream and a blackberry and ginger popsicle for dessert. So healthy and yummy!... More

I've eaten here a couple times. They have the best black bean soup I've ever had... too bad it's not a daily offering. The tuna melt is made with yogurt instead of mayo, and is quite good. Atmosphere, well, if you like voodoo masks looking at you while you eat, this is your place.

Have eaten here a couple of times; yesterday it was for lunch with 7 friends celebrating a birthday. We all ordered different items...turkey sandwich, Ensenada tacos, shrimp Louie, spicy pork sandwich, etc. Everyone enjoyed their food very much, and the waitress couldn't have been nicer, especially having to deal with separate checks and bunch of joking and particular ladies...one of...
