Popped in after a nearby walk with the dog. Made to feel very welcome along with our dog who was pleased to be given biscuits and water! Ordered a light lunch of soup and the most perfectly cooked crispy chips. As always homely and cosy atmosphere, perfect.

my wife and called in for lunch, we use the five bells often for a drink as it has atmosphere and with log stove very homely. I had the burger with stilton and my wife had scampi, burger great but scampi was well over cooked. We informed the waitress who took the meal and replaced with no fuss and apologised.... More

You always get a warm welcome and the staff are friendly and helpful. We've eaten there on 5 occasions now and always been really pleased. On one occasion I had my starter missed off the order so to compensate they took our wine off the bill... Brilliant and really not required as I said at the time to our waitress... More

The Five Bells in Bassingham is quirky and unique but this simply adds to its charm. It's a wonderful pub, well worth the journey, with an extensive menu and a good range of beers on-tap.

This pub does good but basis food in a really pleasant atmosphere. We went for a drink early on Friday evening and were able to stay for a meal as there was ( I think only one) table not booked up - this popularity really tells you all that you need to know. A major feature is the quirky oddments... More

with good food, friendly helpful staff and attractive surroundings this is a pub that it would be a pleasure to have as your local, it's only drawback is how busy it gets, book a table or you may be disappointed. The Sunday lunch was good value, although the beef was overdone in my opinion, but having been greedy and had... More

People banging on about this establishment and others being restaurants really annoy me. Village eateries are clearly food driven but remain, in essence, to be pubs. I am sure drinkers are welcomed as much as diners; there are several bar stools that add to the case for the Five Bells. We called in for a lunchtime drink whilst passing but... More

We had a lunch and evening meal here and both were excellent value and good food. The pub is a fascinating place with nooks and crannies full of interesting farm tools and memorabilia. Gleaming Copper jugs and pots hang from the garlands of hops strung from the ceilings, and the wood burning stoves create a warm and cosy atmosphere in... More

Stayed with friends in nearby Norton Disney and went out looking for a nearby pub for a drink at lunchtime. What a find this pub was ! Great atmosphere, lovely traditional décor and very friendly staff. We looked at the menu and immediately decided we would book for dinner later that evening. A great meal, good wine all reasonably priced.... More

The pub is everything a pub should be except for the total focus on food, if you are not a diner and only want a drink waiting time at the bar can be lengthy due to at times only one person serving, also has to attend to drinks for diners. Prices for wine is especially over the top £8.70 for... More
