My hubby brought me here for breakfast on a Saturday. There was a line out the door, but our wait was only about 15 minutes and totally worth it. I've never eaten eggs benedict, I usually go for pancakes but my hubby said to try the eggs benedict because everyone says its the best. So glad I did! The special... More

I had the eggs benedict with bacob and my husband had the biscuits and gravy. His was a full order with no sides. He was kind of disappointed in the size but said it was very good. My breakfast was yummy! Coffee, juice and our meals were $15. The place is small but has enough going on to pass the... More

Whenever we have out-of-town guests, we always take them to the Engine House Cafe for breakfast. The food is outstanding, the service friendly and efficient and the atmosphere is pure, historic Nebraska. Everyone we bring loves the memorabilia on the walls, the original wood ceiling, the fact that there are so many regulars there at all times and the fact... More

Discovered this inviting spot on a trip to Lincoln last year while visiting Nebraska Wesleyan University--it's less than 5 minutes away. The breakfasts were fantastic. I especially recommend the biscuit combo [biscuit covered with sausage gravy, served with eggs, potatoes and toast]. Four of us had full breakfasts and bottomless beverages [coffee, diet Coke and hot chocolate] all for the... More

First visit to this restaurant and Lincoln. My wife said her potato patter was very good. Her dish gets an A. Based on reviews, I ordered eggs Benedict with steak. Asked the waitress if it be no problem to make sure my eggs would be cooked all the way through, and double checked with her on that before ordering. Unfortunately,... More

I was in Lincoln for a conference, and went there on a slow Friday morning. The place was packed, with an older yet physically fit crowd. You could have ported this place to Southern California and people wouldn't have noticed the difference. But in Lincoln, Nebraska, the middle of nowhere? (Sorry, folks.). The place had a great atmosphere, lay back... More

One of our favorite restaurants in Lincoln. We have never had a bad meal here. The service is great and the kids like looking at the firehouse photos and memorabilia that is on the walls.

One goal we have when we travel is to try local restaurants. On a recent day trip to Lincoln, we wanted to try a local café for breakfast. The Engine House Café in the Havelock Historical District was our choice. It’s located in the original fire house in Havelock. It was built in 1900. It had a horse-drawn fire wagon.... More

My friend and I had seen many reviews on tripadvisor and finally got a chance to go. Long story short, we will not be going back. I ordered a hamburger medium that was cooked so well done it tastes closer to a boot. My friend had an open faced hot beef sandwich that half of it was cold. The service... More

I love going to the Engine House. I haven't been there for lunch, but do go over month or two for breakfast and it is always fantastic. The eggs benedict are one of my favorites, but I haven't had a bad meal there in my many visits. The only negative is that if you go with a party of 5... More
