A friend and I recently stopped here for lunch and were treated so rudely by the older woman at the front. She totally ignored us and would not even come up front and seat us. They weren't overly busy and there's mirrors all over so we knew she had seen us. Finally a very nice employee from the bar side... More

The soup and salad bar is good. Field greens instead of iceberg lettuce, hearty hot soup and a nice, standard selection of dressings and veggies. I ordered an Americana casserole entree which had steak, mushrooms and potatoes. The meal was rib-ticking tasty and solid. I drank the house Cabernet and the pour was generous. brownie a la mode for dessert.... More

The Alley Rose is located in downtown Kearney and we frequently dine there. There is the bar area that has a more informal menu and the more formal dining area with a menu to match. As far as I am concerned, it has the best salad bar in town! The restaurant offers a gourmet list of special selections every evening... More

While it's been a while, the Alley Rose was always top notch but this visit not so much. My daughter didn't mind her hamburger and my wife felt her shrimp was good, I was quite disappointed in their market bar, which is a combination of a trip to the salad bar along with a trip to get food with included... The Alley Rose is practically a Kearney institution. It has been serving up American food with character and panache for two decades right in the heart of historic downtown. The menu features the obligatory beef steaks, done very well, but also includes chicken, seafood, salads and sandwiches. The soup and salad bar is first rate, and could easily be a... More

It seems as though every small town has its own local hotspot with excellent food. In Kearney you need to try the Alley Rose. It is in the downtown commercial district with lots of easy parking. The restaurant has a nice feel to it with a wood/brass decor. Service is very friendly. The steaks were fine Nebraska beef and there... More

This was recommended to us by a person in our hotel. It looked quaint from the outside and inside. It is my wife's and my last night on the road so she ordered the Halibit (the nights special) and I ordered the $25 New York steak. The meals were both brought at the same time. I ordered my steak medium--it... More

It is a nice place. The food was average, overcooked salmon, bland mash potatoes, etc and overpriced. The services was good, We had been giving good references about this place, maybe we have to stop believing what people a little older than us tells us.

While in Kearney with my daughter for an appointment we decided to have lunch at somewhere different that our usual spot for a change. We picked the Alley Rose as she wanted something different in a sandwich. They were very busy as it was the noon hour, and they are usually very busy so we did have to wait for... More
