A REAL STEP BACK IN TIME.

The Low House still retains the character of a pub from the turn of 19th Century, there is no bar but a tap room where all drinks are served from, the main seating area is dominated by a large fire place with cosy pew seating and tiled floors, it really is a step back in history. We were staying within a very short walk of the Low House and decided to view first hand its Tap Room, now almost unique. A genuine old fashioned country pub as it turned out which served a really good pint of Adnams bitter from the wood. The only disappointment was in the choice of food. We viewed the menu board... Had lunch here today, not having been for several years. The pub used to be one of our favourites. Oh dear! Such a disappointment! Not a free house any more, so only Adnams to choose from, and the pint that my hubby had was flat! The menu looked good though, and the chef was kind enough to make me a... More

We visited this this pub for lunch,. this was our first visit, we found the staff very friendly the food good. I had the rack of ribs, saulted potatoes and home made coleslaw. my wife settled for the ham eggs and bubble, both very enjoyable and generous portions at a reasonable cost. The bonus was finding the beer served from... More

Another wonderful, mouthwatering meal at The Low House. Food was excellent, service friendly and beere great as always. A real treat. We stayed in the pub accommodation which was pleasant and the breakfast very generous, my husband was beaten by the full English which was a surprise. Would happily travel up from Bedfordshire again.

We went to the beer festival on Saturday 13th September and both decided on the lamb burgers for our lunch , they arrived approx. 30min latter served on dirty boards cold and tasting awful , when we sent them back a very rude member of staff tried to convince us they were worm and a probe was used to test... We wanted a traditional pub and this is certainly one of those. a unique pub in a lovely location that serves great local produce. The pub itself is of historical interest and is unique in the fact that there is no bar as such, but a room that serves you traditional ales and drinks.....We loved the nooks and crannies and... We absolutely love this pub - and that's exactly what it is - a real proper pub! If you want a spotless, shiny plastic place with a load of noise and microwaved everymeals it's definitely not for you. However if you want to feel you're stepping back in time to when the pub was the hub of the village along... More

We had an amazing meal at The Kings Head, I'm so glad we found it. We ate as a party of four, two adults, two teenagers. I had steak and Ale pie, my friend had vegetarian tart with goats cheese and the girls had a lasagne and a rack of ribs. All presented really well, service was excellent, nice girls.... More
