I am not really a fan of Mexican food, but the meal I had at El Toro was excellent. When I asked for the meals that were not spicy hot, the waiter directed me to some great choices. The service was top-notch, fast and friendly. I recommend El Toro, even for those who don't particularly like Mexican food.

It was right around 5pm/ customers in the dining area but appeared to have enough servers. Didn't seem to be supervised cuz they all hung around the table by the front door. we went with another couple and all 4 meals were luke warm at best and the cheese sauce on 3 of the meals was not good at all.... El Toro is one of my customers favorite lunch places. The service is a little slow, but the food is pretty good as well as the value. I would recommend.

Noticed the name change too late... We had previously enjoyed several meals here before, not this time. El Toro was a decent place to get Mexican food. Very dissappointed, even let the staff know, shrugged their shoulders and kept on walking... If they don't care we won't either. We will never go back, good luck with running this establishment into... More

We have moved to Grand Island for the summer and early fall, this was our first opportunity to go out for lunch. Service was the worst I have experienced in the past 5 years. I am sure it got started when I asked to be seated by a window instead of back in a dark corner in an almost empty... More

Five years ago, we moved from the Chicagoland area to a cabin in the woods, "up north." We've dearly missed authetic Mexican food. So while visiting Grand Island, tried El Toro. We heard there are always lots of cars there, so thought it must be pretty good. Greeted by an enthusiastic manager/host, seated promptly. Hadn't seen the menu before, and... More

Great food at a great price. You don't have to wait long for your food and it;s always wonderful. It's authentic Mexican food. I always go here with friends and it's nice to sit outside on the deck in the summer time.

This is a good place in town to get a good authentic mexican dish. I usually go here with coworkers, and we have a good time with margaritas and the free chips n salsa. The salsa is homemade and you can order some to take home.

I have eaten here several times when I am in town on business. I have never been disappointed. Tonight was the best carnitas I have ever had anywhere. I love spicy, so when they put the chips and salsa on the table, I always ask for the hotter stuff. Beware it will leave a burn on your lips.

El Toro used to be, hands down, one of the best Mexican restaurants going. Not just for Central Nebraska, but in the absolute. Unfortunately, it seems to have recently changed hands, and has morphed into a "Chi Chi's" style chain restaurant called El Portrero. The menu SAYS El Toro/El Portrero, but it's NOT El Toro any more. The prices have... More
