I visited here several times over a two week period in January and have to say its one if the nicest places I've visited, considering its combination of friendly and efficient service, fabulous food and a great location to share drinks, food and fun with friends. There is a buzz around the place as children enjoy the animal tour, or... More

Upon arriving at the cafe we were greeted by loads of people enjoying the outdoors. We were surprised that considering the amount of people there were, we got our coffees quickly. Was so relaxed we decided to stay a while and have a coldy and chips which were great. Would highly recommend and hope to return for a proper meal... More

We stayed a couple of nights here so had breakfast, lunch and dinner here. The breakfast trifle was a winner. The pork belly burger for lunch was scrumptious and my favourite was the cod for dinner although the lamb was a very close second. Lovely simple flavours through out with plenty of fresh vegetables. New Zealand cuisine at its best... More

Lunch at the cafe was beautiful, simple food done well. I had the chowder and was not disappointed. Lovely staff, unsurpassed views and location. Activities for the kids (small additional cost $2) included art trail, feeding birds and animals, rope swing into the sea and kayaks. We arrived at 11.30 and reluctantly left 2 bottles of wine later at 2.30.... More

Thanks! Love the combo of kids exploring and adult relaxation, just what we're aiming for in January. Hope you can come back and stay longer next time - the earliest boat is usually 9am and the latest boat in summer is usually 5pm return (or 8.30pm for dinner cruise visitors). See you again, we hope. Have not been up this way for a while but had a lovely evening there last Sunday. Staff as always were friendly and accommodating. The food was superb! I had steak which was perfectly cooked and my husband had the Poisson which he has had before and was craving!! Could have a little more variety with wine ( Riesling) but... More

Thanks Kay - we love having regulars. We'll pass on your thanks to Ken and your feedback to the chef. For other readers, Lochie is the Lochmara dog. He's very friendly (and also very well trained - the only dog we allow on-site, given our bird breeding programmes). Look forward to seeing you again, and thanks for taking the time... More

Lovely lunch, delicious fish and chips accompanied by very good wine. After a long walk it was a welcome meal in a beautiful setting. Staff were pleasant though seemed to go missing just when you wanted something. One waitress wore very heavy loud boots - not discreet and totally inappropriate on wooden floors! Also noisy table arranging took place during... More

We spent one night here while walking queen charlotte track and was amazed by the freindly staff, great food, fantastic views and the kayaks! We had a lovely dinner meal in the cafe and great breakfast. The rooms were excellent and the washing machine was a welcome addition.

Thank you for the lovely review! We've never been complemented on our washing machine before, but we do aim to make guests happy, and it's awesome that the little details are noticed (and we know it can be a big deal if you've been walking on the Queen Charlotte Track for three days!). Will pass on your compliments to the... More
