Beautiful dessert selections

Ate at the Sandstone Grill mid-week early evening. I got the battered cod which was a mistake in a rodeo town diner. Pretty much over cooked breaded frozen cod filets, not even good ones at that. Like you bake at home for the kids. The fries were good, pie outstanding. I just wasn't hungry enough... read more

Great steaks, salads, apps, and deserts with friendly service located in a quaint historic hotel building on the square. I've dined twice when in their area of Nebraska on business and loved the food and the ambiance.

The variety of offerings were many, they have a great 2-3 item bundle with a multitude of soup, salad, and sandwich choices that are a good value. The steaks and dinner entrees seemed a little steep for the area, but maybe the portions make up for it? The dessert selection is amazing. The rhubarb crisp ala mode was generously portioned... passing thru we decided to stop in Burwell for lunch. What a score finding the Sandstone Grill. Great soups, sandwiches, and burgers. Looked like delicious homemade pies although we were so full didn't order desert. A very busy place but the wait help kept up.

This restaurant is one of those delightful surprises that occasionally you will find in the middle of nowhere. We ate both lunch and dinner there and both meals were very good. The hamburgers and Reuben are delicious, as are the salads. Treat yourself to a steak when you eat here. Be sure to save room for dessert.

This is a 'real gem'. We've eaten here often and every occasion has been an excellent experience. Save room for the dessert!

The food is always suitable to enjoy with your favorite glass of wine. The atmosphere is an old hotel, small enough to be cosy, large enough to usually find a seat.

The resturant was filled with patrons, mostly cowboys and their guests. There was only two waitresses, but very efficient, welcoming and attractive. I ordered fillet mignon, my wife salmon, both were prepared to our specifications and well presented, with rice pelaf and the vegetable of the day, summer squash and asparagus, both with vibrant fresh colors. The wine was of... More

OK, admittedly there is not much to choose from in this area but I would drive for miles to get here even If there was. I have dined at The Sandstone Grill many times through the years and have always found it a great experience in every way. The menu has considerable variety, the food when it arrives is well...
