My wife and I drove 4 hours out of our way to have dinner here again (this was our 3rd visit)! Chef Andy Blanton delivered another masterpiece with a 5-course meal, expertly paired with wines from around the world. As long as Andy keeps putting food onto plates here, we will keep coming back to Montana from our home in... More

I've lived part-time in Whitefish for two years and had heard that Cafe Kandahar was THE place for "fine dining." I was really looking forward to my first visit with another couple but, sadly, our expectations were not met. First, the setting in a lovely ski lodge, needs improving to make it a more intimate mountain restaurant. The overhead lighting... More

We rented a condo nearby and walked to the restaurant, despite some very mixed reviews on here. What an experience! Scotty was our waiter and presented everything very thoroughly. His two assistants were very attentive with keeping glasses filled and changing out silverware for the next course. The dining room is tasteful, albeit small with only 14 tables or so.... More

We had a lovely evening here right until we got to dessert, at which point the kitchen seems to have “hit the wall”. The menu features interesting and local foods and several of our dishes were really outstanding. Some of our party did the wine pairing and those were well-chosen. Unfortunately,we then waited nearly thirty minutes for the dessert order... More

Thank you very much for your kind comments. We are delighted you enjoyed your experience, aside from the dessert. The Chocolate Tasting dessert we offer does take at least 20 minutes to prepare, as mentioned on the dessert menu. We apologize for the mistake with the overcooked molten cake. Please note we make every effort to execute each item on... More

Don' even bother. Homely dining room, ordinary food, overpriced as well. Staff was pleasant but the chef didn't deliver - my salad was overdressed and my prime rib greasy, no interesting vege. This is a lovely area and the dining environment was a disappointment.,

We are sorry our dining experience did not meet your expectations. We find, as do the majority of our clientele, our dining room to be quaint, charming, and comfortable. This guest sent back the salad that night, claiming it was "overdressed", so we promptly made another one that was more suitable to what this guest wanted. We do not serve... More

Staff went out of their way to make the food and experience perfect. Staff was able to make substitutions to menu, made recommendations with wine. Options for tasting menu or al a cart. Large wine list.

I was not expecting to find such a restaurant at a empty-feeling ski resort in the middle of summer. The wine list was very well put together -- a lot of small producer wines that I happen to know and love, plus some new surprises. The somm was very helpful and friendly. The food was also very well-executed. I had... More

Fresh food, reasonably priced and great service staff. The food was served hot and promptly. We had a group of 9 and no problems anywhere. Staff shared cool stuff to do in the area and discount possibilities

Food was excellent but our dining experience did not measure up to their rave reviews. When making reservation for our party of six, the owner required a credit card number to hold the reservation, with a $25 per person surcharge if we cancelled within 24 hours. We arrived 10 minutes early as a courtesy but staff said he needed to... More

We are grateful you found our food excellent. We are disappointed in our delivery of the entire meal, as it obviously affected your dining experience. Everything that is mentioned in this review is correct. Regarding our reservation process, we do indeed require a credit card to reserve a table of six or more during busy times. We are a small... My husband and I went down to Whitefish the other week and we were looking for a place that didn't serve pub food. We found them in the hotel directory binder in our hotel and they were only a couple buildings over. We didn't have reservations so we waiting at the bar until they had a spot available. We ordered... More
