Great breakfast!

We had breakfast twice and both times were very good. We had the special which potatoes, eggs (however you want them), sausage or bacon and bread with butter. Everything was good and is a big portion. The coffee was good too. Once we order a cinnamon roll to go which we had for lunch and it was... read more

We ate here our 1st night on the east side of GNP. The food was excellent. We are from Georgia and weren't expecting to get any good home cooked food, but we found it here. The food is served family style (everything is put on the table and you share). Would highly recommend eating here if you are staying on... More

Johnson's is a must-see when in the St. Mary area. Family dinners served - no one goes away hungry. Go for their fried chicken dinner. Or just load up on soup and homemade bread.

I wish I could give this place a better review. The location of the place, its history and the atmosphere are beautiful. We all (kids included) loved the soup that is included with the dinner, but everything else we tried was below average. Mashed potatoes had too much salt, the chicken was too fried, hard to chew, same as steak.... More

Johsons Cafe should not be missed when you visit St Mary's. It is managed by Johnson family for the last 2 - 3 generations. Food was heavenly and service too was warm. My son took us there as he had dined there earlier during a bike tour of the North -West. What is most impressive was the ambiance of the... More

We came to Johnson's because it was recommended by a traveler we met at a different restaurant. He recommended the soup, we tried it, we loved it! I loved the atmosphere at Johnson's. Menus have the history of the family and their businesses - restaurant, motel, campground - printed on the back. There are also newspaper articles and momento's under... More

My husband and I got a recommendation from a park ranger who sent us to Johnson's. The place is definitely local and fun. They serve one kind of soup that they call "good soup". They won't divulge the type or ingredients but it was very good. I had something called "Bear Attack" which again had no description so I was... More

On a recent hiking trip to GNP, we heard a fellow traveler speak very highly of Johnsons family style restaurant, so made a beeline there on our first night in St. Mary's. To be fair, the restaurant was closing for the season the following day, so they were missing a few items off their menu ( no trout or pork).... More

It is definitely worth a stop into Johnson's Cafe for a hearty meal at very reasonable prices. Everything is homemade - not necessarily gourmet but very hearty food. The soup was the best of all - we could have made a meal from the pot of vegetable soup & bread alone. The entrees were very plain country style food. The... More

The homemade soup here is wonderful. You can make it a meal. And everything generally is decent. But the restaurant seems overly focused on serving large portions. (E.g., the pancakes are the size of large dinner plates, so even if you order two, rather than three, it's still way too much food!) Wish they had more vegetables and other healthy... More
