The mushroom burger was good, and although the fries came out hot, they seemed a little rubbery. Tried a local porter, which was excellent. Service was friendly.

Housed in a historic Helena building, the Windbag serves good food. Unfortunately, two of our group of four's dinner choice was "all gone". Would go back, but probably wouldn't be my first choice in Helena. The wait staff was super friendly :)

Wonderful historic local eatery. The food is very good (love their fries) and reasonably priced. If you like a bit of history with your meal, this is the place in downtown Helena. The bar/lounge is a great gathering place for locals and visitors. Their desert selection (if you have room) is also worth exploring. If you have time, enjoy the... More

If I would have went by previous reviews I would have never visited here, but when you talk to the locals you really can't go wrong. And you won't go wrong if you visit here. I had Cajun chicken salad and hubby had a burger. Both great! And there is interesting history behind this place - use to be brothel.... More

Cool history but super limited menu. A little pricey too for what they offer. Didn't even stay to try the food so I'm not sure how it tastes.

Don't let the exterior or name fool you - this is a great place for steak. I was recommended to this restaurant by a local. I ate at the bar one Saturday night when it was packed. Steak was perfect as was the rest of the meal. The service was super friendly and fast. Again, don't go by the exterior.

Ordered 1/2 size Cajun chicken salad - enough for two. It was fine. Nothing exciting. Fries are HUGE steak fries, which are nearly impossible to cook well. It's a Helena institution and a perfect place to have a drink with practically any legislator - state or national. Senator Tester was there last night :)

Order the Cobb Salad for a meal you won't forget. add a bran muffin and the house poppyseed dressing to complete the picture. I am a vegetarian and the wait staff is always coming up with ways to eliminate the meet and accent the veggies. How many restaurants would go to that trouble to please a guest?

When my wife and I moved to Helena in the 80s, the Windbag was one of our favorite restaurants -- if not our favorite. But in more recent years, we've seldom stopped by for a meal. So we decided to drop by for lunch the other day. For some folks, it might be reassuring that so little has changed about... More

We arrived there on a busy night, with no reservation. My bad. However, the greeter, and this is a very generous term to use for this person, was rude, haughty, nasty and vile to us. The food may be good there, and some of the plates I saw looked appetizing. However, no food is worth the incredibly horrid behavior of... More
