We recently were in Helena for basketball tournament and try to visit Staggering Ox when we go. The guy who took our order was friendly. Took long time for our food and our Philly Melts were awful!! All bread and hardly any filling. Will not visit here again anytime soon!

This is a very unusual restaurant. It's in a strip mall and must have been something else first. It is huge. The counter where you order is off to the left and is very different. You chose your menu item and if you order a beer you have to sit it the back where there is another counter (Red Atlas)... More

Crazy place with random decorations, I thought they must have awesome sandwiches. I stepped up and placed my order for a Mt. St Helen's Club Foot. I thought wow that is a crazy sandwich, too bad that was all I thought of it. The bread has a weird texture that was just not good. Like eating a sponge filled with... More

I love coming here for a casual lunch with my family when I am in town. My favorite sandwich is the Bleeding Heart with the Creamy Basil dressing! Set in a strip center near Carroll College, this place may cater to students but everyone is made to feel welcome. Service is super fast, you can get a beer if you... More

Inside, the Staggering ox looks as if it was created during a a violent collision between a 70's discotheque and a Subway sandwich shop. The result is the creation of a sub shop unlike anything I have ever seen before. For those brave enough to forge ahead after the bewildering entrance, you'll find yourself at the ordering counter with a... More

The place is decorated in an eclectic artsy way that makes it very unique. The food was adequate but could have been better. My grilled sandwich was a little over grilled. My companions' bowls were hot on top and cool on the bottom. We were there in the evening while the bar had live music but it made for a... More

Stopped here for a snack. We shared a Nuke and they were very nice about splitting it for us. The sandwich was very good, like always. Very quiet this time. We were just about the only ones there, so it was very slow. But we got our order right away, no waiting.

Aside from the uniquely shaped hollow bread tubes, the Ox is just an average sandwich place, and a fairly pricey one too. I do like the fact that it is a local business, not a franchise, and I'd rather spend my money here than at some of Helena's other chain sandwich places. So while there certainly is nothing wrong with... More

Yep, you heard me right staggering ox now has the best cheeseburger in town. It's called the All-American and it is incredible. It is a bacon cheeseburger with all the fixings, in the clubfoot bun. Totally fantastic can't wait to have another one.
