We have lived in the valley for 14 years and had heard so much about the steakhouse! So finally for our 33rd anniversary my hubby made reservations for us to have dinner there!! The drive out was lovely and scenic, the view from the porch is amazing. I must say we totally enjoyed our meal, I had the NY strip... More

We were warmly greeted and seated next to a window where we watched the deer and the hummingbirds play. It was quite a drive to get there and since we had a couple of recommendations from locals to go there, we had great expectations. Unfortunately, not so much. The food was mediocre at best, and although I get the "country... More

I had prime rib that was awesome. My boyfriend had the sirloin, also awesome. He had the JoJo potatoes. OMG, they were good. I had mashed and gravy, which were good, but those JoJos... the Magic Carrots are quite tasty, too. And the hummingbirds. We ate outside and they were everywhere. What a wonderful dinner...I want to return. Now!

We had a large party but had made reservations well in advance. They had one waitress serving all the guests and she seemed very overwhelmed but friendly. I had the New York steak and it was bigger then I expected and delicious! The steak came with the salad bar which was nice. The soup that evening was clam chowder and... More

As we finished up at Gem Mountain, we asked about a local place to eat dinner. A Gem Mountain manager/owner told us about this steak house. So we headed off to Skalkaho Steakhouse. What an adventure! We drove one a mountain pass round, that starts as paved but quickly turned to a dirt road with lots of curves. Felt like... More

Food was good, service very friendly but what makes this place standout is the views - mountains, pond, horses, dear, goats.

The Skalkaho Steakhouse has to be one of our favorite places to eat around here! Secluded but not so far out as to be inconvenient - these folks know how to make your dining experience comfortable...the service is prompt, courteous, friendly and helpful. The food, delicious! The setting - well - what can one say but - GORGEOUS! We are... More

The steaks are great; the rest of the food is basic Montana (iceberg lettuce, relish tray, bad baked potatoes). The inside is filled with the basic dead animals on the walls, another basic Montana motif. The real gem is sitting out on the deck for your meal! There are many hummingbird feeders, and at times it is all you can... More

My wife and I dined at the Skalkaho Steakhouse on a Sunday afternoon. The steakhouse overlooks a pasture with a pond where Canada geese were milling around and feeding. We ordered the "guide's eight-ounce sirloin steak" which included the soup and salad bar. The tomato soup was creamy and had pieces of tomato in it. Their salad bar included beets,... More
