Excellent food at dinner ... breakfast buffet?

We stayed at the Best Western for two nights in February and found very few options for dinner. First night we tried the Yellowstone Mine attached to the hotel and were very pleased with the food. Salads were fresh and the hot bread was great. Our dinners were fresh, hot and very tasty. Service was... read more

We recently ate dinner at the Yellowstone Mine restaurant in Gardiner, MT in late January. It is located on the property of the Best Western Plus by Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel. We enjoyed the old mining motif and décor of the restaurant and, knowing Gardiner's history, I recognized some of the tools as those used at the travertine quarries nearby,... More

Winter does not offer many eating options in Gardiner. Having had burgers and chili aat other places in town, we expected more of the same here. We were pleasantly surprised by the fresh greens and vegetable and distinctive flavors. The trout was good as was the Chicken Alfredo. The service was attentive.

We came here on the recommendation of the desk clerk at our nearby motel. We found the food very good but a bit too plentiful since we were on the road. Normally I would welcome plentiful portions since I am not shy about asking for a doggie bag and I do enjoy them the next day. Anyway, my tall, slim,... More

Three of us ordered the prime rib special and were delighted. The salad starter was full of perfectly greens and the blue cheese dressing was lightly applied and then sprinkled with blue cheese. Our prime ribs were mini roasts and perfectly cooked. The choice baked potato, rice pilaf or sweet potato was a nice touch. My sweet potato was tender... More

Best food in town, darn near the only food in town during the winter. Certainly the best breakfast and fast service in comfortable surroundings. A mining motif lends itself to interesting American West cuisine. If you order the Chicken Alfredo be sure to share it. The best was breakfast however, the coffee good and plentiful. Service was attractive and attentive.... More

We stopped in for dinner on our first night in Gardiner and wish we had gone back the second night. Nice atmosphere with proper subdued lighting. Nice fireplace. Food was a little on the high side but Gardiner is a long way from major suppliers so understandable. Our server was excellent and added a lot to the visit. Pleasant dinner... More

We primarily stayed in Yellowstone, so are comparing the food at those lodges. Yellowstone Mine's food was significantly better: food was flavorful, properly prepared (steak was cooked perfectly), and well portioned (hefty side vegetable portions). Our waitress was incredibly friendly and helpful. Stop here on your way into/out of Yellowstone.

We stayed at the Best Western Mammoth Hot Springs, which is next door to this restaurant, and the breakfast buffet was complimentary with our stay. It was very good and had a large variety. There were eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, waffles and a cheesy hash brown casserole. They also had several breads, cereals and fruits. Based on food alone,... More
