This is a true mom and pop operation.

The food here is outstanding. You won't get a better lunch anywhere on the Peaks to Craters Highway, one of the most beautiful roads in the US

Got breakfast this morning. Omelette, hash browns and sourdough bread. Huge well stuffed omelette. Fresh cut potatoes; not frozen. Homemade bread. Just like my own Sunday family breakfast. Don't travel through Darby. Stop and eat here.

Very charming family run small business. They really care about the food and it shows. A definite must do every time we pass through Darby.

Not normally open for dinner, we were lucky to be in town for one of the rare occasions they are open for dinner. The entire family is involved with running the business. They are all very attentive to customers' needs and nice to talk with. While tempting, we did not order the Trapper. How can anyone fit their mouth around... More

Stopped here on our way to Yellowstone National Park. It seems the whole family is involved: three boys, obviously brothers were taking orders, bussing tables and the youngest (of about ten, I'd say) wearing an apron and probably washing dishes. Mom? came out one time to size up the crowd, and a young lady who may have been big sister... More

Three of us stopped here for lunch. One ordered a half BLT, which was great, one ordered a turkey melt on sourdough bread - yummy. And one ordered a TRAPPER. This is a hamburger between two grilled cheese sandwiches. This is nuts! But, he finished it and said it was great. Nice people, clean restaurant. Very reasonable prices. Go there... More

The Montana Café in Darby, Montana is under new management and they are doing everything they can do to make certain they stay open. We ate breakfast on two consecutive days and both times found it to be excellent. This family owned restaurant is open for breakfast and lunch. The entire family works there and they are all friendly and... More

The Montana Cafe is under new owners. A young couple who do the cooking and waiting on tables. The wife was very pleasant and the restaurant was absolutely spic and span. The owners had their teenage boys doing the cleaning (I got there right at closing which is 4:00 pm) and they were really well mannered. This place is well... More
