Imaginative, playful dishes. Super friendly. Locally sourced ingredients. Risk takers in the best sense. Magic pork belly, duck confit hash, wild boar. Two people should get 3-4 dishes and truest them like tapas. Reliable, affordable wines. Great buzz.

We have dined several times at Lilac in downtown Billings. (We have had the Sunday brunch and also have dined in the evening) We have never been dissapointed and always look forward to what is new on the menu next time. I would say that their short rib with gnocchi is fantastic! For brunch, their smoked salmon omlette is worth... More

My wife and I ate at Lilac this evening. My wife had their short ribs gnocchi, and I had the salmon with greens. Both were well prepared and presented. The wine for both meals were well paired, too. It's really hard to believe that we can Find such a fantastic restaurant in the middle of North America.

We had an amazing visit to Lilac a number of months ago. My daughter was visiting recently, so we took her to what we expected to be a special meal. It was. Again. Starting with an appetizer, "peas and carrots." A pea puree, marinated carrot curls. Odd, unexpected, possibly a bit "weird." Wonderful. Main course varied. None of us tried... More

I have here twice and have never been disappointed. The spinach salad was different than any I have had and the elk sausage was great. The small plates are filling. They only serve beer and wine, no cocktails. Thierry butter with herbs is awesome. This could be set in any large city and be equally as good.

Lilac offers some of the best food in Billings! They are constantly changing the menu in order to offer fresh, unique options for their patrons. They do a fantastic job of buying & selling local products. We have eaten on busy weekend nights, low key weekday dinners, and mid-day Sunday brunches. They are consistently fantastic!

Four of us went to Lilac the Saturday night before Mothers Day, for the first time. We all enjoyed our meals. The mushroom appetizer was delicious with the asparagus sauce below them! Each of us tried a different entree, and the pork chop seemed to be the favorite, but the braised short ribs with gnocchi was also delicious. We usually... More

I had the fettuccine special with mushrooms, zucchini and asparagus. The pasta was home made and the sauce was very good with a slight lemon flavor. It was a hardy meal. My friend had the Braised Short Ribs with gnocchi. She was wonderful too. For dessert we shared the milk chocolate mousse, salted peanut ice cream and caramel. It was... More

Lilac's food is very good. There was a group of 8 of us for a friend's birthday. The food was great, but everyone mentioned their portion sizes were quite small. The waiter was awesome! Great experience overall. Oh, don't try the pigeon. Not worth being adventurous.

I have had many meals at Lilac and it is by far the best restaurant in all of Billings! They use fresh local ingredients, they change their menu seasonally, and the type of food they serve is fresh, delicious and very modern. There is a great vibe in the restaurant. It is locally owned and the owner is the head... More
