I had the pleasure to drop into Lilac in Billings, Montana last Saturday night, to have a wonderful dinner. I was traveling and dining solo, so I took a seat at the bar where I was served by Jeremy, who was extremely knowledgable about the food and about the farms from which each ingredient was received. I started with a... More

Waitress was very knowledgable and warm. A bit of a wait for food, but understand it is made from scratch... Lamb was flavorful, but presentation was terrible--brown and bland looking. some fresh ratatouille would have looked and tasted good. My husband's halibut w/swiss chard was excellent. A highlight was the sticky pudding. Question the price to value??

An eclectic menu combined with friendly and superior service sets Lilac apart from 99% of restaurants in Montana. A long time Montana resident, I was more than pleasantly surprised when my girlfriend took me to Lilac on a recent trip to Billings. Excellent presentation and a creative combination of delicious flavors left me quite satisfied and impressed. Don't miss it... More

Lilac brunch is a great way to spend your Sunday mid-morning. The quality of ingredients is excellent and they offer a selection of traditional (biscuits & gravy, fried chicken steak) and more eclectic (duck confit hash) dishes. There's also a great selection of breakfast mimosa's. The restaurant showcases local art work, providing both interest and warmth. The staff were very... More

Lilac is obviously trendy and very popular. The room was full - and very noisy, one of the few detractions to the experience. Service was very attentive. The menu changes frequently, and is quite small, so the dish that we had seen online was no longer available. Our "green goddess" salad was quite nice, and the ribs with gnocchi and... More

We stopped there while traveling; the food was delicious, and the ambience very good, at the end of a long day driving. We felt like human beings at the end of the meal. With a seasonal menu, it changes. My husband and I both had the sesame salad; it was as good as it sounded (and it sounded good --... More

Imaginative, playful dishes. Super friendly. Locally sourced ingredients. Risk takers in the best sense. Magic pork belly, duck confit hash, wild boar. Two people should get 3-4 dishes and truest them like tapas. Reliable, affordable wines. Great buzz.

We have dined several times at Lilac in downtown Billings. (We have had the Sunday brunch and also have dined in the evening) We have never been dissapointed and always look forward to what is new on the menu next time. I would say that their short rib with gnocchi is fantastic! For brunch, their smoked salmon omlette is worth... More

My wife and I ate at Lilac this evening. My wife had their short ribs gnocchi, and I had the salmon with greens. Both were well prepared and presented. The wine for both meals were well paired, too. It's really hard to believe that we can Find such a fantastic restaurant in the middle of North America.
