Fine lunch

Stopped for lunch after a morning of skiing. The lunch buffet featured a very dry and heavy looking beef stroganoff so we opted for their sandwich menu. Our burgers were fresh and tasty and the fries were the best. Service was great.

When a house guest announced on the spur of the moment that she wanted to take us dinner, LMR apologized that they "only" had family style dinner on Sunday nights. What a treat! Seated at long tables with wine bottles already in place, guests are tempted with platter after platter and bowl after bowl delivered from some hidden place where... More

We live in Big Sky year around. Last weekend I asked a couple who spend several months a year here to join us for breakfast at Lone Mountain Ranch. It used to be one of our favorite places to eat in Big Sky when we started coming in 1990. But when the Ranch changed hands the quality went away. With... More

We stopped here for lunch with the small group we were traveling with. The restaurant was not very crowded (a Wednesday in February) and the buffet was exceptional. There were 2 different soups, salad buffet, a beef brisket, and a couple of dessert offerings. Wait staff was friendly and efficient.

Enjoyed every meal. Food was perfect and drinks were awesome. We even had friends in from Bozeman that lived it and said they would return.

They got a new chef this year and the food was fantastic. I am a foodie and am very picky. It was more gourmet than I would expect from a dude ranch. I ate breakfast, lunch and dinner and all three meals were consistently excellent!

Nick Steen does a great dinner menu. It features lots of locally sourced rocky mountain meat (elk, bison, beef, lamb) and fish (trout, whitefish) as well as vegetarian (risotto, ravioli) options with imaginative sauces. The beet salad was absolutely wonderful...light, beautifully presented and tasty. The trout with lemon foam and the seasonal risotto were delicious as well. There is a... More

Excellent quality of food - local Montana beef Pastrami Reuben, daughter had a Gyro with real lamb - also local Montana lamb. We had the soup off of the buffet with sandwiches - also quite good.

We are locals and frequent visitors to the Lone Mountain Ranch. It is always a highlight of our winter when our kids come home for the holidays to take the day and ski the trails at LMR then treat ourselves to a nice lunch at the Dining Room. We have had only positive experiences in the past, that is why... More

Chef Nick Steen presented the Hops and Hogs Dinner. The menu was totally unexpected (I actually didn’t know what to expect in Montana) and very memorable. Course 1 was Pork Belly bathing in parsnip apple bisque and dotted with black beans. It was paired with LMR Summer Shandy. The pork belly was cooked to tender, melt-in-your mouth perfection. The parsnip... More
