Mexican Villa use to be my mothers favorite restaurant and fir years we would dine here as often as we could. However it has steadily gone down hill until finally it has hit rock bottom and ruined any chance of our returning. Dining there with a group of 10 and not one of us enjoyed our meals. In fact my... We recently made reservations at this restaurant for eleven. Granted that we arrived early for our reservation (15 minutes early) they had not even started to put tables together for it, even though there were less than 10 customers there. After another 10 minutes, we were seated. Normally tortilla chips and salsa are quickly delivered to the table. Although the... More

Mexican Villa on S. national is a landmark. It has been there for over 50 years always busy because the food is good and the prices are reasonable. Can't say its Tex-Mex. But the Burrito Enchilada Style is definitely their own creation. Becareful with the hot sauce; a little goes a long way..

Wonderful, authentic Mexican food unlike anywhere else!! Wish we had one at home! Cheese dip is wonderful! Try the 'sweet' salsa - it's great!

We enjoyed the food for years until becoming reactive to MSG. We were told it is used in all the Mexican dishes including the hot sauce. We'll be back on a weekly basis if MSG is ever eliminated.

We ate here yesterday because my daughter is a student in Springfield. I'm not a Mexican snob by any means but this has got to be the worst I've ever had. The salsa was very spicy. we asked for mild & it was a syrupy something or other. No one would eat it. The chips were not good & my... More

If you are looking for authentic Mexican haute Cuisine, do not look in Missouri (Duh!) If you want a great mid-western experience.. Eat here. Springfield is a place a whole lot of people are from, or use to live here. When we come back our first stop is one of 200 places you can get "cashew chicken" and the second... More

Mexican Villa the original location on National was a wonderful experience the ambiance, food quality and service were amazing. Make this a must visit place if you are in the Springfield MO area. Totally recommend the Sancho Enchilada Style and the Queso dip.
