Saint Louis is a good but not great restaurant town. Chicago is a great restaurant town. Niche has been rated as Saint Louis' No. 1 restaurant by several food critics. Meanwhile, Spiaggia has been rated as Chicago's No. 1 restaurant, a five-star dining experience. So how do they compare? Having dined at Spiaggia on several occasions, I can honestly declare... More

This restaurant lives in inbetween land which is my reason for 2 stars. I went to Niche with high hopes after seeing the reviews, expecting it to be about the same caliber as a one Michelin star restaurant especially since the prices are one Michelin star prices. The food however, was disappointing considering the price. My boyfriend and I both... More

We celebrated my husband's birthday here while traveling through St. Louis. We chose the chef's tasting menu with wine pairings. Each dish was unique, delicious, and beautifully presented. The portion sizes were just right. The service was gracious and friendly. The decor is modern and interesting. It was fun to watch this incredible food being prepared in the open kitchen.... More

We celebrated my wife's birthday at Niche and it was awesome. We did the 4 course dinner and left fat and happy for sure. My wife even said her hen of the woods dish was the best thing she has eaten in a long time! There is also a cheese biscuit and pickled item appetizer that we agreed could be... More

We celebrated my wife's birthday with a dinner at Niche. What a remarkable place. The atmosphere is inviting, the food is fantastic and the service excellent. There were three of us at the dinner and we ordered the four course. The first course all orders were the same: Spaghetti Squash, Baetje Farms feta, pepitas, oregano. This was a first for... More

We dined at Niche to celebrate my husband's birthday. Neither of us had been there previously, so we didn't know what to expect. We were deliciously surprised. The menu is set up to have 12 dishes, essentially 3 options for each of four courses. Each dish can be ordered a la carte, or for a prix fixe, you can choose... More

Had the Chef's tasting menu with wine pairings at the "Chef's Table": a counter in front of the open kitchen. Courses included those listed on the website as of today, but with a few other small but nice items: roasted hen-of-the-woods mushroom with chorizo butter, and a small raw milk cheese course with a camembert produced by one of the... I had read a little bit about chef Gerard Craft. He used to live in Salt Lake City and now owns and operates four restaurants in St. Louis. He is a four-time James Beard Foundation finalist for Best Chef. Midwest and Food and Wine named him Best New Chef in 2008. He was very gracious and came to my table... More

We are regulars at this restaurant and just enjoyed the tasting menu with paired wines again last night. Be ready to experience unusual but delicious combinations of tastes, textures and temperatures. One of the best restaurants in Saint Louis.

This place clearly wants to be reach a high level of fine dining. It tries, but it's not there yet. The restaurant and service are rather casual, which is good. The tasting menu had two meat courses but didnot include a fish course. The taste of the dishes were fine, but not stellar. Nothing was very memorable.
