My daughter and I were cruising The Hill after a long day at the St. Louis Zoo looking for a place for dinner. There was a parking place right across the street from Mama Campisi's, so we accepted the good fortune. (On the narrow streets of The Hill, parking is at a premium.) We were greeted promptly and shown to... More

I travel for a living and during a recent visit to St. Louis I was eager to go to "The Hill". A relative took me to this restaurant last week (Aug, '14) and upon entering it was taken back by the dumpy décor. This joint looked like a refurbished basement in the Bronx. Mind you it was August and no... More

We decided to check this restaurant out, first because we love our Italian, and second, we know this place was revamped on the Restaurant Impossible show on FNS. Not impressed at all. Service was okay. Food fair to average. We tried the fried ravioli, fried cheese sticks, and spaghetti. We've had better. Really disappointed it wasn't better tasting then we... More

Seeing this restaurant featured on Food Network's "Restaurant Impossible" we had to go during our visit to St. Louis. Our visit was at least a year after the show aired. It was fun to see the restaurant first-hand. Restaurant is cozy, but plenty of room to eat and enjoy your table's conversation without feeling crowded by another table. Service is... More

I am a huge fan of Robert Irvin and Restaurant Impossible, and I was really excited to visit this restaurant. It is a very small place, but the food is out of this world. I had the King of the Hill Pizza, and it was one of the best pizza’s I have ever had. Everybody in my party had a... More

One of the few resturants we found open on a Sunday PM, atmosphere is a bit dated, but yet quaint and very traditional, expected for "The Hill" experience. We were greeted promptly. Wait staff was very helpful, even with the challenge of 'language', this is an Italian restaurant with actual Italian's guiding the way (what a concept!) ... While the... More

I took a friend here for lunch and I should have known something was up when we walked in during prime lunch hours and there were only two people in the restaurant, while other places were crowded. The decor is outdated and the dining room is run down. There was only one waiter and he was indifferent as if our... More

Last year my husband I stayed at a hotel near here and asked where to eat? They recommended "the hill" and we had never heard of it. After driving thru we choose mama campisis. The staff were so willing to share the rich history and it immediately had my husband intrigued. Our dinner was so good and had plenty of... More

My husband and I enjoyed a satisfying lunch! Started with the toasted ravioli - very tasty! I had the highly recommended lasagna and my husband had their special tortellini. Service was fantastic! Our waiter was very attentive. The bread and oil are a nice touch. We were full from our meal to try dessert this visit, but we will be... More

"The Hill" is a middle-class Italian neighborhood a mile or two south of Forest Park, a favorite tourist attraction in St. Louis. Mama Campisi's is a casual restaurant with homemade Italian favorites. Food was very good, prices were reasonable, the service was attentive and friendly.
