It was close to the hotel and the food was fantastic. Classic Italian food in casual setting. You cannot go wrong here.

We were there on Saturday for lunch. In fact, for some regulars at a front table, we were the only ones there. They start out by bringing you a basket of "cold" 1/2 sliced bread with cold butter. If you can't warm it up before served, why bother. I got the dish with shrimp and chicken for $18. There was... More

We walked to this cool old school restaurant from our Arch area hotel. We were treated to a great casual meal at an incredible price. My friends and I work in the Foodservice business so we are aware of how hard it would s to make people feel at home and yet SERVED. Charlie was there and made it to... More

Just a couple blocks from the Cardinal's baseball stadium; was here for work. Food is good, the pasta nicely done (still al dente), the value is great, service is family oriented, friendly, and appropriately attentive. Lots of families and Cardinal fans, all feel welcome. I had the calamari one night and the Fra Diavolo shrimp another night, and can recommend... More

Came here after a Cardinals game. Don't be fooled by the outside which looks quite scary. Inside there's a large bar area and then lots of tables set close to each other. Had the salmon which was just ok. The veggies on the side had a TON of butter though, it was running all over my plate. My husband had... More

Ate here at the recommendation of our hotel concierge. Charming setting, feels more like someone's home kitchen. Our server was knowledgeable and made plenty of recommendations. We started with the toasted ravioli, which was decent, filled with sausage and cheese. I had the Tuscan chicken risotto, which I thought was quite salty. There was a huge quantity, and since our... We make a point of visiting Charlie Gitto's downtown whenever we can. It has a lively casual feel. It is great with friends before or after a game or before a night out along Washington Avenue. The food is excellent (I order either the Veal Parmisian or Veal Marsala while my wife loves the Veal Picatta). The wine is basic... More

I never saw a risotto like the one I was served here. It was a soup.. I returned it and the manager agreed and apologized. The chef must be ashamed of himself. They rectified their mistake and brought be a grilled chicken breast. The salads were fine. The atmosphere is acceptable. Not fine dining. More for lunch is fine. The... More

Charlie Gitto's has been around a while and has a cool, old school feel to it inside......Meal was excellent, House salad included artichoke hearts, nice bonus; Tuscan Chicken Risotto for entrée was awesome.....also met Charlie Gitto himself, nice and funny guy......I would definitely go back again!
