Part of a group of five, my wife and I dined at the Sidney Street Café in St. Louis, MO on a cool evening in mid-September 2014. Our waiter/server, a loquacious and friendly gentleman named Ben, was gregarious and very helpful from the beginning to the end of our fabulous meal. After an unhurried round of cocktails/wine, we ordered a... More

The food was cold, congealed sauces, minuscule portions. The wine list had little selection, and we had to send one bottle back. The room was loud and we had to shout to make ourselves heard to those in our party. Service was ok, but the waiter seemed over it. The bill was extortionately expensive and there was absolutely zero value... More

Could a place that has been around as long as this have an off-night? I don't think so. What a massive disappointment. TINY portions, especially the appetizers, and at New York prices. I had the Pork Special which one would think would be the Chef's specialty/mainstay but it was cold and completely bland. This place may have been considered as... More

Tasting-type meal was just outstanding. Much better than expected, presentation of items was excellent, wine pairings/ suggestions spot on, dessert was awesome, service was stellar, only knock: seated in a basement like setting with many tables at the periphery, just felt a little odd, lighting was also a little too dim. Parking was expected to be tough but wasn't. Would... More

The best meal yet while visiting St Louis. This restaurant is located in Soulard area of downtown which is the historic area of the city. Our waiter, Rich was attentive, informative and helpful. We ordered veal dumplings (so amazing) and pea pirogues (very good) for an appetizer that 4 people shared. I am still dreaming of the veal dumplings...one of... More

I found both the food and service to be quite good, but somewhat short of excellent. I started off my meal with a cold cantaloupe soup that was very tasty, while my main course was a lobster stuffed filet which, while very good was a bit disappointing. The beef was tender and the Bearnaise sauce was tasty without being overbearing.... More

We did a wine tasting with food for a set price. An adventure for sure as the chef made some very tasty, but unusual items. Service was excellent! Our friends's favorite restaurant.

The food was really good, and portion control is important. But Sidney's portions are simply too small. Had ribeye (5 slices) with fingerling potatoes (1 cut up), wife had scallops (3 small ones). We get that the focus is on high quality ingredients, but way too small. We left hungry. None of the other high end restaurants in St. Louis... More

We had been to Sidney Street Cafe years ago and enjoyed the food so went again on our recent trip to St. Louis. The food continues to be excellent! The service was attentive but not fawning. The food arrived at the table in reasonable time and everything we ordered tasted great!

My husband and 3 other couples go out to eat once a month. We try more upscale restaurants that are new to all of us. This month was Sydney Street. It was the most expensive and the least impressive of the restaurants we have tried to far. The portion sizes are laughable. When spending over $30 on an entree, I... More
