Back and better than ever. This casual restaurant, bar, and boat rental facility, located in the heart of Forest Park on Post-Dispatch Lake, is like no other place in St. Louis. The Boathouse has undergone major renovations thanks to a gift from the Jack Taylor family. In the warm weather enjoy leisurely boat rides, lakeside patio dining, cold drinks, live music, and beautiful sunsets. In the cold weather enjoy indoor dining for lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch…or just come and enjoy a glass of wine or a hot chocolate while relaxing around the large stone wood-burning fireplace. **Due to increased traffic in the Park during our busy season, we’ll be able to accommodate reservations for large parties only, 10-16 people, for indoor dining at specific times. Otherwise, our seating is available on a first come, first serve basis.

Nice ambiance - food a disappointment

This is a beautiful spot to stop and sit outside and enjoy a meal or cocktail. But we were disappointed with our lunch selections. I chose a chicken salad sandwich that was swimming in mayo and pretty devoid of chicken. My husband chose a sandwich called

We have been living in STL for more than 10 years and consider Forest Park our backyard. Absolutely love it. One could not ask for a better restaurant location than the boathouse. Simply perfect. How great would it be if the location would be matched by a good restaurant. Alas, it is not. It is OK for drinking beer but... More

This was my brother and I annual bday dinner. Every year we chose a resturant that we have never visited to patronize. We went and understood that this resturant didnt take rsvp so waiting wasnt a problem. The hostess stated that there could be up to a 2 hr wait which we were fine with. The original size of the... Visited this past Friday and were seated immediately around 1 p.m. 4 of us shared 2 margherita pizzas-1 would have been enough despite it being called a personal pizza. It wasn't great but to be fair, we should know better than to order pizza in St. Louis-it's not the same as we're used to in the Chicago area. Also shared... More

I went to the Boathouse with friends for the Thursday night "Shrimp Boil". We have gone to many of the shrimp boils in the past few years and have always enjoyed them. This time was probably my last. I am disappointed when restaurants raise the prices and give you less. Part of the shrimp boils is 1/2 price bottles of... More

This is all about location, if your out for a play at the muny, zoo, paddle roats or bike rides you are close to this restaurant which offer average views with the benefit of over looking the lake. Awesome place to come people watch, feed the ducks and get a meal or pint of beer. I always take my girl... More

The view is over lake in Forest Park. You can use paddle boats or feed and watch the ducks around. Outdoor seating is sparce and not level so watch the footing. Food is ok but not great. It appears the shift change led to confusion about who had what tables to serve. Prices decent, but limited menu. It's a place... More

Clearly what this restaurant has going for it, given the long wait times, is its location. You can sit right on the water, watch the dogs and kids (and adults) play with/feed the ducks, ogle the paddleboats and take in the sunshine. If you're fine with being happy-go-lucky then this is a great place. On a recent trip to St.... More

This is a charming and interesting oasis in the middle of Forest Park. You can rent a boat here to paddle around the lake in the park, enjoy a meal in the restaurant or participate in the many events held at the Boat House. You are also welcome to bring your dog to the Boat House – as long as... More

We have eaten here before and really enjoyed it. We ate here today and we waited 45 minutes just for our appetizers. We have been here over an hour and still don't have our food. We keep asking the waitress and she keeps saying it's the kitchen. I am at a table full of VERY hungry and unhappy people. We... More
