Description: Back and better than ever. This casual restaurant, bar, and boat rental facility, located in the heart of Forest Park on Post-Dispatch Lake, is like no other place in St. Louis. The Boathouse has undergone major renovations thanks to a gift from the Jack Taylor family. In the warm weather enjoy leisurely boat rides, lakeside patio dining, cold drinks, live music, and beautiful sunsets. In the cold weather enjoy indoor dining for lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch…or just come and enjoy a glass of wine or a hot chocolate while relaxing around the large stone wood-burning fireplace. **Due to increased traffic in the Park during our busy season, we’ll be able to accommodate reservations for large parties only, 10-16 people, for indoor dining at specific times. Otherwise, our seating is available on a first come, first serve basis.

This is a charming and interesting oasis in the middle of Forest Park. You can rent a boat here to paddle around the lake in the park, enjoy a meal in the restaurant or participate in the many events held at the Boat House. You are also welcome to bring your dog to the Boat House – as long as... More

We have eaten here before and really enjoyed it. We ate here today and we waited 45 minutes just for our appetizers. We have been here over an hour and still don't have our food. We keep asking the waitress and she keeps saying it's the kitchen. I am at a table full of VERY hungry and unhappy people. We... More

Went to the all you can eat chili dinner with a party of 8. They also had $2 local beers on draft. They ran out of the table favorite beer after one glass, and I mean one glass. Then they ran out of chili, we sat for 25 minutes with zero service waiting on our second bowl, and when we... More

The stark interior and basic furniture of this restaurant is not very welcoming but the short brunch menu offers enough variety to satisfy most tastes. The smoked salmon and trout with a bagel and cream cheese was a hit with our party and I enjoyed the corned beef hash with two fried eggs. However, the Bloody Mary came in a... More

This review is for the paddle boats not the restaurant have not dined there yet. At least once a year we make a trip for the paddle boat ride. You start off in the lake by the restaurant, but paddle threw the narrow winding canals heading west to the large lake at bottom of art hill. The foliage surrounding the... More

The location of this place on the water in Forest Park with ducks and outdoor wood fires and a generally quite scenic location gave us high hopes for a lovely lunch. We ended up being disappointed because the food quality was simply not there. I had a salmon salad which was just not that good--the salmon was clearly left over... More

During an afternoon in the park, we decided to give the Boathouse a try for an early dinner. I can’t believe what we have been missing out on all these years. The food selection was great and the prices reasonable. Loved being able to sit outside along the lake. Kids enjoyed feeding the ducks while waiting on our meal and... More

Whether you go the Forest Park to visit the Zoo or the Science Center or the Muny or the History Museum or whatever, trust me, you inevitably will cross paths with the Boathouse restaurant. In fact, you might not even go there to order a blue cheese burger or fresh salmon Greek salad. Instead, you may be renting a boat.... More

Smart short menu for a busy sunny afternoon on the lake. The blue cheese burger and the fresh salmon Greek salad where delicious. Our server Karen was attentive and professional. Will be back!

Were at the Boathouse yesterday for brunch after the charity 5k in Forest Park. Looked forward to brunch. Since our last visit ( a couple of years ago) the menu has changed. Probably 50% less to choose from on the brunch menu, the only menu we were offered (visited around 11am). We chose the bagel/salmon and egg/chorizo wrap options from... More
