I was a little unsure about the dark bar, but my husband insisted this was the best pizza he had ever eaten. Boy was I converted! We showed up just after they opened (5pm) and the phone was already ringing steadily with takeout orders. We ordered our pizza, then drank a couple of beers while waiting. The sauce was so... More

We have lived in St. Louis just about four years. That being said, we are not fans of the St. Louis style pizza (cracker thin, messy, and with not taste). Originally from the Chicago suburbs, it is hard to find a pizza with a thick crust. Well, look no more! We had been told about Blackthorn when we moved to... More

But how long should one wait for food? It has been exactly two hours since I placed my order and the appetizer has just arrived. The restaraunt is not busy in the least bit and there is really no excuse for such poor service. The decór leaves much to be desired but perhaps it is their attempt of the bar... More

Like I said, this is a dive bar. A dive bar with great Chicago style pizza a great atmosphere and plenty of games. Our pizza took about 40 minutes but it was fantastic! No negatives to report. Decent beer prices and good garlic bread. The sauce for garlic bread and pizza were different but had a nice kick to them.

This place is awesome. Shuffleboard, cheap PBR and a good tap selection for more refined beers. Oh, and the pizza is outstanding. It takes a while since they only cook up to two pizzas at a time, but the wait is worth it. Looks like a dirty dive bar, but it's a great experience.

For a truly great pie, look no further than this classic South City dive. Give them an hour to make it, then enjoy some Chicago-style pizza in the heart of STL.

The Black Thorn is an iconic and comfortable place to enjoy St. Louis "Pub food"! The sandwiches were very good and the pizza was also pleasant. This is a kind of place to go with a group after a sporting event, if you played or if you watched.

Neighborhod pub known for it's great pizza. The deep dish is outstanding. Usually a wait especially on weekends but well worth it. Acceptable selection of beers to enjoy with dinner or while waiting.

Like the Deep Dish Chicago Style. You can take a piece of pie and use it to break a car window...never did that by the way!! Takes a little long to get your pie...about one hour. Worth it in the end. Small local "hole in the wall" bar, so dress to player shuffle board.

Well first this isn't your typcial STL pizza and that's just fine with me cause I'm from back east and our pizza has a thick crust. Black Thorn custom makes each pizza and each one has tons of toppings, trust me 1 piece is about all you can eat. Be prepared to wait a long time for your pizza so... More
