When you read reviews talk about this being in a bad part of town, you should believe them. It is not a good area in *any* sense of the word. However, in broad daylight, you might consider giving it a chance. If you do, you'll find a friendly staff and an interesting experience. We ordered a chocolate malt, made thick... more

This place is FANTASTIC! We arrived around 1pm and had to wait about 20 min. for a table for our party of 4 which was myself (mid 30's my husband late 30's our 15 y/o and my mother in her mid 50's) My daughter swears by her Turkey Bacon Melt the best sandwich she has ever had, we also of... more

My wife and I were visiting St Louios and saw Crown Candy on Man V Food and wanted to try it. When we arrived there was no line and from the moment you walk in you are taken back in time. From the small old fashion tables, to the mini jukeboxes at the tables, and all the old Coke signs........ more

Okay, I admit it is hard to get into and I admit it is hard to keep such a small busy place spotlessly clean, but it is definitely worth the trip. The servers are efficient and fast and they have always been friendly to me and my guests. Perhaps, because I am a regular customer. Crown makes its own ice... more

Ok, so they make their own chocolate, no biggie. They sell a lot of other candy, such as gummie worms, M&Ms, etc, but it is not worth the hassle it takes. Let me paint the picture.I've never been there before, the line if out of the door, it is hot outside. After about 15 mins of waiting, we get close... more

Yum. I can't say that I consume a plethora of malts, but Crown Candy gets me in the mood. It has been around forever and and seen the highs and lows of Saint Louis over the past view decades. Walking in, takes you back to the pre-war era. Drink 5 cylinders of malt and you get your name on the... more

The seating area is kind of small. It is the most traditional diner/soda fountain I've ever been to and I would definitely take my family back again. My youngest son loved the grilled cheese and my oldest and my husband both really enjoyed the chili. And they both got the best milk shake I've ever tasted. Incredibly delicious homemade ice... more

We ate here in April 2009. The place had that old fashion soda shop look and feel. When you walk into the restaurant you can smell the chocolate and sweets. Besides the neat atmosphere, the service was the next best thing. Our server was polite and provided good service. Now the place was neat looking but appeared to be a... more

Yes, this place has been open for many years. It does have a sort of 1940's soda shop vibe. The food & sweets are good. And that's it: end of story. It is not worth driving around to find it. It is not especially charming. The service is not stellar. It is a cramped storfront, maybe 30x40. There are about... more

What took me so long to go here? This place is everything good it's said to be and then some. I found it very easy to get to (but I do "know" STL well). take I 70 to Branch, go south/west to 14th street & hang a left. It's a few blocks, on the corner of 14th and St. Louis... more
