My husband grew up near Crown Candy and went there a lot as a child. He had told me stories about how great the ice cream was and his mom used to get their Easter candy there. So when we saw an episode of food channel broadcast there, my husband said he had to take me there. We had to... read more

The place is know for its BLT, Ice Cream Shakes and candies. Its in north St.L area and I would avoid in the late evening but during the day its safe. Seating in the inside is limited but you can watch them make your shake right in front of you and it gives you the golden oldies nostalgia feel.

This restaurant is located in a part of an area defined as North St. Louis City. The St. Louis City boundaries are defined into different areas of Downtown/Riverfront, Midtown/old theater district, Central West End/Forest Park, South City, and North City, St. Louis City remained stable until the 1950's, then experienced a general decline as the population moved to the suberbs.... I went solely for the BLT. It was GREAT and I ate the whole thing! I will definitely go back and have some chocolate and even get a sundae. Stop in if you get a chance, you won't be disappointed.

One of the BEST BLT's I have ever had. The experience of eating in this place is unique. The friendliness of EVERYONE in the place is always exciting. Great menu and great food. Come HUNGRY.

It's like a museum that you can actually use, and the food is wonderful but simple. The BLT comes with a full pound of bacon and is about six inches thick. The other sandwiches are similarly endowed, but the main feature is the malts. I get a cherry malt that comes with chunks of real cherries that I often have... More

My wife and I headed to Crown Candy on a warm Monday in March. It was 2:00 in the afternoon and we still waited in line for probably 40 minutes before we were seated. CC is in an interesting neighborhood, you might not even care to visit after dark, but all was well on this sunny warm day with many... More

I took my grandkids here for some homemade ice cream. This place was on a food network channel so had to come see what it looks like. The line was out the door, very small seating area, inside only, BUT because we were buying ice cream only, we were able to cut the line and go to the counter. Ice... More

After going three other times we finally were able to sit down inside and have dessert. Yah! Yummy lover delight and also bought some chocolate to eat on another day. Service amazing!

Had the BLT and I knew it would be huge but I did not imagine what it would actually be, it is massive. A full 4-5 inches thick with tomato and bacon. There is no getting my mouth around it. I ended up rebuilding it only using about 1/5 of the bacon and I will take the rest home to... More
