Mingle with some ex-pats (no pun intended)

It's very rare that you come across, what is advertised as, a "True Irish Pub" from the home land and actually come close (and trust me there are tonnes of them in the US). Over the years John D. McGurks Irish Pub has grown in size, but has not lost its charm. If the weather is good, the outside seating is perfect. They have a heater outside. Inside seating atmosphere is fun and well done. Great menu, good drinks, and great music makes this a perfect place to visit.

We only ordered appetizers, not full meals, so I can't really speak on the food. However, the apps we had (pretzels and toasted ravioli---"t ravs") were great. It was the atmosphere I loved. Truly an Irish pub. We were there on a COLD, slow night but I could see it would be one heck of a place to party on... More

Staff was friendly and helpful. There was live mUsic at nine which was great, not to loud. We had fish and chips. If we are in St Louis again we would return.

Stopped in for a bite for lunch and loved it! While not busy while we were there, this place is huge! If you're in the area, you must stop in. The food was very good and the service exceptional.

Had my first visit to John D. McGurk's on Friday and wow! The atmosphere was incredible - lively but not over the top. The patio is fully enclosed so you can sit outside comfortably. It was pouring rain on Friday, but we were snug inside, watching the rain pour down. My husband and I had fish and chips. After living... More

Had lunch with a bunch of guys at McGurk's while visiting St. Louis and loved it. The offerings were all tempting and ended up very tasty and nicely presented. Home made soda bread accompanied my spinach salad and both were impressive. Others had their club sandwich, Irish stew, fish and chips. Everyone loved their meal. Nice atmosphere inside an old... Did our research before visiting St. Louis to find places to eat close by where we were staying. If at all possible, we will always find an Irish Pub to visit. We planned on visiting McGurk's as an anniversary dinner and they did not disappoint. The atmosphere is great and we sat on the patio. It was a little cool... More

My husband, our son and his wife and their children visited here last night, Oct 18. The patio was just beautiful. I was concerned about being too cool so I brought a small, light blanket to lay over my legs and I was very comfortable. The atmosphere was very nice. I was surprised at the size of the patio area.... More

I knew the place from previous business trips and it is well-liked by locals so it was a safe and known place to go with my Army buddy's daughter, her husband and daughter. I had a great Guiness Stew and a really excellent crock of French Onion Soup.
