We were attracted to the building and that is a multi generational Hispanic, family owned establishment. Having the chance to eat inside was the draw. We took a day trip to St. Joe nearly one year ago today. We only stopped by because we thought maybe our grandson was hungry and we didn't want fast food. We ordered the chips... More

So glad we "had" to stop in St. Joseph on our road trip, and it just "had" to be about lunch time. Love this place, and only get there every few years. This time, I brought a cooler and bought a dozen extra frozen enchiladas to bring home. Yes, you have to pay extra for the chips and salsa. I... More

We often eat at Barbosa's, and it is consistently wonderful! The food is in a category all it's own. Old-world family recipes are still being used and the quality is awesome! We love the flour chips with avocado dip, and I assure you that you will find none like these anywhere else! I also had the "choice of three" which... More

We go there often and always enjoy the food and service. The Nachos Supreme is one of my favorites. Two locations in Saint Joseph - the one downtown is worth visiting just to see the building, Be sure to ask about going upstairs to see the vista of downtown Saint Joseph.

It was almost unrecognizable. I had a taco, enchilada and tamale? It is all unseasoned hamburger meat. Dry, with no sauces. You can order salsa and chips for $4. Don't bother, awful unedible cheapest chips from a big box store. But the service was good. The locals seem to love the place. Voted best for several years. All flour tortillas... More

How can a Mexican restaurant mess up cheese enchiladas? We tried Barbosa's May 2013 while on a road trip, and the food was AWFUL. They used Velveta cheese!! It was terrible, very expensive &12 for crispy dinner food. Taco Bell would be better.

If you grew up with fake out of the can Taco Bell Kinda Food, you wont like this. I have eaten there many many times over the last 40 years it is wonderful every time. I have seen some of the other reviews that didn't like it at all. I don't understand. But then I remembered, I have worked for... More

I took a client to eat here, it was where they wanted to go. They indicated that people either loved this restaurant or they don't. Fair enough. There are three locations, one now in Kansas City, one in downtown St Joeseph in a "castle" like structure, this was the one near the hospital, which was not fancy, even the insides... More

The homemade flour tortillas and excellent flavor combos, along with the Barbosa family's restaurant being a landmark in St. Joseph, make this place a family tradition for us!

We are frequent patrons of this restaurant. It's often crowded (for good reason!) but we have never had to wait long to be seated. The selections are varied and the portions plentiful. We always leave satisfied.
