I like this place. The food is overpriced, and not the best you'll ever eat, but it is tasty and the old woman who runs the place is so sweet! I do love all the 'old time' salads on the salad bar, though. Can't get those anywhere else I've been.

we went with a group of 30, so perhaps,we couldn't have expected fine dining. We didn't get fine dining. The salad bar was fair at best. The chicken dish we were all served was right out of Denny's. The desert, while good, was minuscule. My gin/tonic was bad. It's a very nice looking place and the servers, including the mother... More

The food was okay but overall I would just call the place different. Like being at my great aunts house although I didn't see any dollies.

Four of us stopped in for lunch after being attracted by the outside sandwich board advertising French dip sandwiches. The restaurant itself is a tremendous glance into the past -- glitzy decor from a nearly forgotten era. We were shown to a table immediately and within minutes were ordering our drinks. A little later we ordered our lunches. Three of... More

Our group of 7 friends made Easter reservations for lunch after church. We arrived about 10 minutes earlier than our reservation and were seated immediately. The owner encouraged us to go to our table even though "it wasn't quite ready". When we got there, we were met by a rather grumpy woman who was bussing the table (and upset that... More

Had lunch here based on the double diamond review from our tour book. It mentions a salad bar in the center of the room. An empty salad bar is what we found. There is a limited menu with ok food. Our waiter did not seem to know anything about the menu items. I ordered the side salad(since there was no... More

The staff at this restaurant are all very friendly, especially the owner, Donna. The salad bar, although somewhat small, is delicious. The fried chicken is crispy. The prima donna dish at the restaurant is the coconut cream pie, however. Be sure to save room for the pie!!

We eat here a lot. They have great food and a wonderful bartender. A salad bar during dinner that has delicious home made salads, slaw, jellos etc. Old fashioned home cooking.

Have been going for here for years. The owner is a wonderful lady full of stories about Old Saint Charles, the development efforts to keep the historic area alive, and be sure to ask about the Ghost! The amaretto chicken dinner is one of my favorites. She also has some of the best sweet baby carrots...my husband hates carrots, but... More

Had reservations for a party of 4 (a birthday celebration). Seated promptly for our 6:00 pm reservation. It took the waitress at least 20 minutes to even notice we were there. She took our drink order and returned pretty quickly. we then waited again for at least 20 minutes before she came to take our order. The other couple ordered... More
