My family likes to eat at only one restaurant in St. Charles….and that is "The Mother-in-Law Restaurant" in the historic area of Main Street. The atmosphere is very quaint, and the food is always excellent. The decor reminds you of visiting an historic period of a time gone bye… I would highly recommend it. Ask for the owner, Donna.

Loved this place. Have eaten lunch here three times - and each has been a great experience. Very much enjoy the gracious host and owner (Donna), and the place has a charming atmosphere. The sound traqck from Somewhere in Time is playing on the CDE player in the background. Reminds me of visiting someone's wonderful grandmother's house. Very historic area... More

This was a delightful little place. The menu is not extensive, but the food we ate was delicious. They make some tasty homemade dressings. My husband's chicken salad was yummy. For dessert, they make their peach cobbler into a sort of parfait. Brimming with antiques and the gracious atmosphere of a by gone day. Highly recommend it.

I love this place. I have had many friends from England to dine with me here. The owner will make you feel at home and want you to sample something that she has made. The Brits like it because it is old and familiar to where they eat at home. The menu is small, but all meals are great. She... More

Lovely old home turned into a restaurant. Nice and cozy in the inside. They do have a few outside tables. We ordered the special per the recommendation of the server. It was the BLT with side salad and a wedge of watermelon. The server raved about the BLT special, that it was the best ever with homegrown tomatoes. It was... More

Ate here for lunch and was not impressed with the lack of vegetarian choices. I was looking forward to trying the Celery Seed dressing...it seemed to have good flavor but it watered down the salad. Weird. My DH liked his burger and my SIL liked the Cordon Bleu. Our waitress was nice but a little slow. Not her fault we... More

Why is this place rated # 45, when it is certainly in the top 5 in St. Charles. Just like eating in your great grandmothers parlor. Antique decor, wonderful wait staff who rave about the owner ( how often do you hear that ) and very good food. Variety of salads and sandwiches. Excellent entrees. Have eaten here 3 times... More

We went for lunch on a weekday at noon. There weren't many others at that time, but there were several diners by the time we left. We both had the lunch special: quiche. The portions were large - almost a quarter of quiche each. It came with a large slice of watermelon. I got the house salad as my side... More

I looked internet-wide for a unique-quaint place to eat our family of 3 Easter dinner. We decided since the temperature was 77 degrees we would fore-go the tables linen cover and eat efresco. What a treat. Greeted by the owner, Donna, what a gem. Yes, the blueberry muffins were outta this world! Even though Donna advised to put lots of... More

Donna, our 'culinary angel' is a marvel to behold! Adding 'class' sans snobbery to this historic district, she and the waiter, Shea, welcomed us into their 'home' with gracious attention to our comfort. The evening menu was easy to decipher and the prices fair; $4 appetizers, $6 desserts, $11 sandwiches and $22 entrees, all ample portions (hamburger patty was 1/3... More
