We came last weekend , the restaurant was very cosy and away from the main bar . Food was well presented , very tasty and good generous portions . I cannot fault 'pork in cider' . One of the best pork dishes I have ever had . The bread and butter pudding was divine. The landlady was very friendly and... More

My wife and I recently got married and went on our honeymoon, dropped off by the parents and picked up by the parents (or so we thought). When we landed, we were greeted by a private car, suspision suddenly crepped in and we were told to sit back, relax and enjoy the Champagne. Immediatley we new that it was the... More

Based on the reviews and previously popping for a lunchtime sandwich with my Dad I had every hope that Sunday lunch would be a good experience. So took my partner Angie as our local (The Plough) was full. Service was a little slow but it was a busy time. The roast dinners arrived piping hot and the vegetables looked ample,... More

I recently went to the George for a festive holiday lunch with my husband. Really enjoyed the food, warm welcome and attentive service even though it was extremely busy midway through our visit. Shall definately go back and can thoroughly recommend.

I am lucky enough to have this pub as my local. The pub itself is lovely inside, particularly in the winter with the open fire. The staff are always friendly and the food has never disappointed. We had lunch here the other day and as always it was spot on. If you are in the area, Newnham is a lovely... More

We had used the George quite a lot in the past. It has changed hands a few times since we had last been there. We visited the George on a Wednesday night in October 2014. We got to the George at 7pm sharp because we hadn't booked a table. We ordered some drinks and were allocated a table. The pub... More

Visited The George Inn on Sunday 2nd November where we found the staff had also provided a magnificent firework display for the village and customers. After the brilliant display, it was back inside for pumpkin soup (which was delicious) & hotdogs for the kids. Lovely atmosphere and everyone was very friendly, the staff were brilliant. I will be visiting again... More

We visited today 1 November 14 for a light lunch with the in laws over from Denmark for the weekend and it was very good from the staff all the way through to the food.
