We were reccomended by another tripadvisor that The George Inn was good, and they were not wrong. The welcome from the barmaid was refreshing, the food good and served quickly. We sat in the garden which was large and very pleasant. The pub sits in the centre of a typical old Kentish village with a lovely old church. All in... More

We had a party of nearly 40 people. The food was lovely and so was the service. The whole evening ran very smoothly, with Pimms in the garden on arrival and a lovely presented dining room in the evening.

We were a group of 10 going for Sunday Lunch. Parking was a bit limited - parking on street was fairly easy to find. Had to wait to order. As food is freshly cooked there was an expected delay. Meals arrived together and were nice and hot with generous portions of meat. Chef kindly cooked my beef so not rare.... More

Have just been to The George for last minute Sunday lunch. Arrived at 1.45, 30 mins before our booked table but drinks order taken at bar and told to be seated. Drinks took over 20 mins, ordered food dead on 2.15 (waitress said she was waiting for 2.15 to be able to take our order). Starter arrived 40 mins after... More

We were told that The George was a good place to have dinner by our hosts in the Palace House Farm guest house and they were correct. The pub was built in the 1500's and has retained that olde world feel, while working as an efficient modern enterprise. The staff were great and very friendly, happy to explain a bit... More

We were out looking to eat, and the fist place was shut. Remembered the goerge inn from years ago and thought we will see if it's open. We were in luck! You walk into old style beams and a huge fireplace with hops hanging all around. The tables are big solid wood (nice at home if I could afford them)... More

Had a tremendous walk around the local area and ended up back at the George for a late lunch in the garden. The food was as a good pub should be, local meat and substantial roast lunch at a very good price. Good walking country and great scenery and a good pub to eat at, Newnham is an excellent place... We booked The George after seeing the online menus and having seen the tripadvisor reviews. The reviews and the venue are miles apart. We were seated first and had booked, yet the hostess was immediately rude on arrival when all we asked was to be seated, felt like we weren't welcome. Once seated we waited 40 minutes for the starter... More

Quality ingredients well prepared & served with friendly politeness. Great pub food! This is the best 'pub' restaurant that I have visited in the local area. It knocks the spots off of some of the more pretentious 'gastro pubs' locally. My only gripe was the bill! We received a tiny 'till roll' receipt with descriptions such as 'seasonal £ 6.95'... More
