The Prince of Wales is a small pub and fills up with locals, if you are not known by the staff, the service is not the best, they rush you a bit to much, I can appreciate they need the turnaround ,but they kept looking at us,the minute we put our cutlery down they swooped in for the plates, and... This pub came recommended in the AA Pub Guide so we were keen to try it. We were staying in the area and after a visit to Kenfig Nature Reserve popped in for a drink. It was early evening and we weren't hungry enough to have dinner so settled for a drink. It is obviously a very popular pub as... More

What a lovely, locals pub. Perfect for after a walk along Sker beach or Kenfig Nature Reserve with the kids & the dog. You can sit outside in the Summer, plenty of seating. In the winter you can sit by the cosy fire. Very friendly and can get busy at times. Have also been to a few functions upstairs, which... More

Telephoned the Prince to try to make a reservation for lunch on Mother's Day. Yes I was late but lets face it there is plenty of competition in the area. Living locally I have often visited this traditional pub for a drink/meal on the way back from a good walk in the area. Never again! The attitude to my request... More

We've been here a few times now! Had a Sunday lunch on March 23 which was absolutely fantastic. So much so that we went at 6 p.m. on march 26 - the car park was full and on entering the bars were full of drinkers and patrons waiting for a meal! We ordered a prawn cocktail and whitebait starters and... More

First impressions very good, lovely country pub, log fire and busy. Menu looked impressive and the promise of steak and ale pie in short crust pastry sounded perfect.... WRONG!! I knew things were going wrong when the pie was served with a PUFF pastry lid. If it had said PUFF. Pastry on the menu I wouldn't have ordered it. Anyway,... More

Whenever my partner and I go for a walk in the area,we stop at this fantastic pub for a drink. Yesterday ,I had my first meal there and OMG it was generous, well presented and delicious. The lady at the bar was friendly and gave us a very good service. There is a warm and welcoming atmosphere in there with two... More

I returned to the Prince on Wednesday. My wife and I were meeting friends for lunch. We arrived at 12.15 to ensure we could get a table for four which was just as well because by 1.00pm it was full. The menu is extensive without being too exotic. There are all the usual suspects plus Chef`s specials. It is great... More

Although I'm a Porthcawl native, I can't remember the last time I visited the Prince for food. We went for a rather muddy walk in Kenfig Nature Reserve and built up an appetite that we certainly needed for the HUGE portion of steak and ale pie with chips and veg! It was thoroughly delicious and we shall be returning to... More
