Over the last twenty years, this has become our go-to place at the lake; you know, the place you save for your last night, so everything builds to this pinnacle. Every visit prior to this has been five star; no big deal (really!) that for just once, they only hit a triple instead of their normal home run. Owners Mark... More

We’re glad you enjoyed your visit, and we appreciate your vote of confidence. I’m sorry if we were a bit off the evening you were in. I wish you would have elaborated…both for others reading your review and for us at The Duck as we always want to learn and grow from our guest’s experiences. If you could contact me... More

We enjoyed a romantic dinner at the Duck. Great Lake view with a terrific wine list. Enjoyed the Steak Diane and wife had the lamb chops. Everything was wonderful. Worked off the meal climbing the steps back to the parking lot. We enjoyed and will come back next year.

Thanks for coming…and for taking the beautiful stroll from the parking lot down our walkway to the restaurant. We work hard on our wine list and are proud to have the only Wine Spectator Award at the lake. We look forward to serving you again! More

This place is worth the trip. We had a larger group and they were so helpful to accommodate us. I had the sea bass and it was wonderful. Also recommend the Rack of Lamb and pork Great cocktails, many menu options and service was very good. The view is beautiful. We were here after the season so we just relaxed... More

Yes, we’re off the beaten path unless you are “driving by” in a boat. Like many other waterfront restaurants, we’re at the end of the road on the point…drive any farther and you’ll be swimming! You’ll drive 2 miles through residential neighborhoods to get to us and others. It often throws first time visitors off...surely there can't be business down... More

This is the second year I have been to this delightful restaurant for a business gathering. Wonderful people, great menu and fine wine list with a homey atmosphere on Lake of the Ozarks. Big hits - smoked trout appetizer, creamy onion soup with bacon, rack of lamb and the coffee rub steak. I would highly recommend, especially during the off-season.

It was great to see you again, and thank you for your kind remarks. As the summer winds down there is still plenty of al fresco dining left. My wife and I sat on the deck last Tuesday when we were closed, sipped a glass of wine (or 2!) and enjoyed the splendor of our fall weather. Come see us... More

We just returned from driving our boat to "The Duck". Beautiful setting but definitely overpriced (most meals over $40). My beef for the Steak Diane was cooked perfectly, but that was brown gravy on it with mushrooms no less. In my book a Steak Diane has fresh shallots cooked in steak drippings to which lemon, fresh chives, and finally good... More

I’m sorry our Steak Diane did not meet your expectations. We make it in what we believe is a traditional manner. The Chef makes his own demi-glace from veal bones, and we use ingredients as you specified for the most part, except we use brandy instead of sherry. Dijon mustard is key, as is heavy cream and yes, mushrooms. We... More

Just left the Duck. Terrific evening. Great atmosphere. Great food (sea bass and lobster ravioli). Great service. Our server, Jessie was terrific!

Thank you for mentioning Jessi. She’s in her third season with The Duck; she has a positive attitude, is truly friendly and wants to do a good job. Thanks too for mentioning your entrees. We’ve had great luck with the quality of the sea bass we get, and the Chef and he staff make the ravioli from scratch. More

Several years ago we had a package deal at the Lake. My brother and his wife heard great reviews of The Duck. I had just had open heart surgery and it was a struggle to go from the parking area to the restaurant. I had order beef and it was with bake potato or some other starch and asparagus. I... More

It sounds like we had several misunderstandings, and when you come back we’ll try to do better. I’m not sure if your visit was in 2009, 2010, or 2013, but you must have had our Tournedos of Beef, which is 2 4-ounce portions of filet prepared in various ways depending up when you visited. While I believe most of our... More

Food was excellent but service was poor and tables outside dark and could not see eating. Not sure it's worth the $.

I’m sorry we left you in the dark. We keep the lights low during the summer because we’re right on the waterfront and while we spray for insects, they are still plentiful and we don’t want them in your hair…or in your food. You didn’t specify what the “poor service” was, but I’d guess that you were here on the... More

Lake of the Ozarks is lucky to be blessed with so many terrific locally owned restaurants. There are eateries there that, if they opened a facility in Kansas City, people would willingly wait hours to be seated. Baxters, Hooks and JJs at the Copperpot are just some of the A team. But the pride of the fleet, the flagship, has... More

Thank you for putting us in such good company. We’ve just received our 11st consecutive award from Wine Spectator Magazine, the only restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks to be so honored. Our chefs work hard to get our food just right every time and the front of the house staff is experienced in taking care of guests. As... More

Beware the stairs!! ... but so worth it!! In-house Sangria, perfect calamari (with two thin slices of lemon fried in the same batter (wow that was good), and 4-cheese stuffed mushrooms. Susan had wild greens with a celery-seed vinaigrette, a thick porkchop with a brown sugar and bacon glaze/topping, and raspberry bread pudding. All perfect. I had the chicken corn... More

It was nice to meet you and we’re glad your experience lived up to our press! I also appreciate your good humor regarding our steps down to the restaurant….I frequently bring guest cars down our access drive – it still isn’t perfect, but we want to accommodate all who want to come. The hills of the Ozarks are lovely, but... More
