We were recommended to try Citizen Kane's and were somewhat unimpressed when we pulled up to this older home in a residential neighborhood. However, despite a somewhat stark atmosphere we were overwhelmed by the quality of our food. The steaks were fabulous, as were all of the side dishes. Service was fast and attentive even on a Thursday evening! I... More

If you want to waste money on lousy food, this is the place. The bread was stale and tasteless and after asking for more (warm and fresh) it came the same way, stale and tasteless. The bordelaise sauce is nothing but flour and water, a complete waste of money. The potatoes were cold and hard, again a complete waste of... More

The service from our waiter was acceptable and the bus girl was outstanding. The bread we were served us was stale. We started with sauteed mushrooms. They came lukewarm at best and judging by how quickly they arrived after being ordered they were not prepared to order. Our salads were good. My wife ordered a fillet and I a pork... More

One of the best ribeyes ever. It was huge, 14 ounces, so my husband and I split one. I can't remember right now what I had with the steak, but I know I liked it. The couple with us go there quite often. They tried the shrimp and said that they have a new favorite. The setting in an old... More

My wife and I and our adult children dined on a Sunday night. Three of us had the Ribeye and my wife had the filet. Al were perfectly cooked and delicious. We had reservations and were seated immediately. A nice, quiet family evening.

Wonderful ambience in an old house... Strip was amazing! Sides were adequate but the steak is what you come for... huge portions and very reasonable prices. Don't miss this place!

A two story traditional Kirkwood home that has been converted to a restaurant. Steaks and sauces are melt in your mouth quality. Service is attentive but unhurried. Caution for disabled customers or anyone who would have trouble walking up some steep stairs (about 15) to the second floor. Limited seating on the first floor.

Citizen Kane's is in a re-purposed old home, centrally located in Kirkwood, MO, a suburb of St. Louis. If you want a steak second only to Ruth Chris' Steak House, this is the place to go. I am a guy with simple tastes and a steak and potato with a veggie side is all I need. Citizen Kane's fills that... More

The first time I went to CK, I thought maybe my bad experience was a fluke, so I game it another chance. Sadly, I had the same bad experience again. My husband and I are late 20's/early 30's, and I don't know if they expected us not to tip or something (we always tip at least 20%), but the service... More

As everyone else says, the steaks are really good - and they truly are. The deserts are made on-site. Only one caveat - the soft drinks are not "free refills" and this is not disclosed anywhere that I could find - until you get the bill. For a $35 steak, another free soft drink would not seem like much to... More
