In the five years since Waldo Pizza last won this category, Phil Bourne's KC institution has inched nearer the quarter-century mark with an ever-growing beer list, a popular gluten-free crust and yet another expansion of the original site. What hasn't changed: the place's dead-solid reliability. That might sound like faint praise, until you remember the second law of restaurant thermodynamics: entropy. Even beloved destinations occasionally coast, sometimes to a full stop. Not Waldo Pizza, where Bourne and a crew including not just regulars but lifers keep vigil over the details while attending devoutly to customers. A wall of Saturday-night families, a switchboard lit up with delivery orders, a keg about to run dry — none of these eventualities lead to so much as a stray green-pepper sliver when your pie shows up in front of you. But bring on the green peppers — and the banana peppers and the spicy beef and the cheddar and everything else on a menu that's long on good ideas.

One of the better pizza places in the KC area

We really like Waldo Pizza. The pizza is consistently very good and it's usually not so crowded that you can't get in and eat in a reasonable amount of time. The salad bar is sort of hit or miss. Sometimes it's fine and sometimes it looks sort of tired. I always go give it a once over before I... read more

One of our long-time favorites has slipped since we were there a year ago. Pizza --the combo (going all out) was "bland". Salad bar was basically poor as 2 of our group looked at it and decided to pass. I went ahead...on memories. Disappointed. Greens were "limp". Dressing selections were narrow. Beer was cold, but not "that" cold. A disappointment... More

Same pizza order. Different day. Large thin sausage with lg salad to go. Pizza was great. Salad was good. Salad had some old funky lettuce in it. See pics for further. This is the best local pie around. The ranch is great here. Makes me hungry just typing about this pizza. 🍕😎

We stumbled upon this pizza place by accident and were NOT disappointed!! We have never seen a larger selection of toppings--both standard and somewhat unusual. Our pizzas arrived quickly, were piping hot, and DELICIOUS!! One of the best pizzas I've ever had. We are coming back!

This is a bit of a drive from our home in the northern part of the city, but well worth it. This place has the charm of a local, non-chain eatery. We opted for the thin, crispy St. Louis style crust. The pizza was great and the beer was ice cold. We will definitely be back.

We hit this place up for dinner and it had a lively crowd and all the pizzas coming out looked great. There was a salad bar and large beer selection. The vegan garlic bread was okay, but we went with a vegan pizza and it was delicious! Loved it and would go back.

Good food. Many beer brands with some exotic choices. Great place for lunch. We went with the kids and it was no problem.

This place is always busy when we come here. We had a group of 9 & had to wait about 15 minutes for a table. You can create your pizza by choosing the crust, the cheeses, & a huge variety of toppings. I was not impressed with the pizza. It was good, but just not that great. We had the... More
