In the five years since Waldo Pizza last won this category, Phil Bourne's KC institution has inched nearer the quarter-century mark with an ever-growing beer list, a popular gluten-free crust and yet another expansion of the original site. What hasn't changed: the place's dead-solid reliability. That might sound like faint praise, until you remember the second law of restaurant thermodynamics: entropy. Even beloved destinations occasionally coast, sometimes to a full stop. Not Waldo Pizza, where Bourne and a crew including not just regulars but lifers keep vigil over the details while attending devoutly to customers. A wall of Saturday-night families, a switchboard lit up with delivery orders, a keg about to run dry — none of these eventualities lead to so much as a stray green-pepper sliver when your pie shows up in front of you. But bring on the green peppers — and the banana peppers and the spicy beef and the cheddar and everything else on a menu that's long on good ideas.

We hit this place up for dinner and it had a lively crowd and all the pizzas coming out looked great. There was a salad bar and large beer selection. The vegan garlic bread was okay, but we went with a vegan pizza and it was delicious! Loved it and would go back.

Good food. Many beer brands with some exotic choices. Great place for lunch. We went with the kids and it was no problem.

This place is always busy when we come here. We had a group of 9 & had to wait about 15 minutes for a table. You can create your pizza by choosing the crust, the cheeses, & a huge variety of toppings. I was not impressed with the pizza. It was good, but just not that great. We had the... More

Very good pizza in a slightly different style than most pizzerias. We visited for a family birthday with relatives of a wide range of ages and everyone enjoyed our dinner.

We've been here a few times for the buffet. If you like thin crust then this is definitely a pizza buffet you should try; most of their buffet pizza is made with thin crust. But even if you're not a thin-crust person you still should try it. The salad and pizza bars are in a hallway, but it isn't crowded;... More

This place is crowded, noisy, and a little bit dingy-looking -- but the pizza is really good. If you're going to eat in, I suggest asking to sit in the bar if you can. Carryout is normally our best option because the place is (justifiably) crowded at peak times. We usually have good service, but the interior is rough.

I had the buffet meal. There was a great salad bar and then several diffferent pizzas, thin or thick crust. Some cut into squares and some into triangles. You can even ask for a certain type of pizza ro be made. My friend requested the Tex Mex pizza. I loved it! The server was polite and was great about keeping... More

Sorry to say this place is not worth the Hype. Overall, I felt like the place was dirty from the carpet to the cards stuck to the ceiling, also the restrooms while better than some were still dirtier than I would have liked. The Pizza was bland and I felt under cooked, overpriced for what I got.

Dirty and sub standard. Do not understand why people claim to like this place. Pizza was bland crust was undercooked.
