In the five years since Waldo Pizza last won this category, Phil Bourne's KC institution has inched nearer the quarter-century mark with an ever-growing beer list, a popular gluten-free crust and yet another expansion of the original site. What hasn't changed: the place's dead-solid reliability. That might sound like faint praise, until you remember the second law of restaurant thermodynamics: entropy. Even beloved destinations occasionally coast, sometimes to a full stop. Not Waldo Pizza, where Bourne and a crew including not just regulars but lifers keep vigil over the details while attending devoutly to customers. A wall of Saturday-night families, a switchboard lit up with delivery orders, a keg about to run dry — none of these eventualities lead to so much as a stray green-pepper sliver when your pie shows up in front of you. But bring on the green peppers — and the banana peppers and the spicy beef and the cheddar and everything else on a menu that's long on good ideas.

Great Catering

I've used Waldo Pizza several times for catering and they've been great! Pizza is fresh, hot, and delicious. Salads and dressing are also excellent.

TIP: The fresh peeled mangos on the luncheon salad buffet are a great desert! TIP: For the luncheon buffet, pizza selection is even better if you can hit it during the busy prime time.

We went to Waldo's on New Year's Day to have some St. Louis style pizza. Food was very good, and the service was pleasant. I'm sorry there isn't something similar closer to where I live. My only slightly negative comment was seating. The place was nearly empty pre-noon, but we were seated close to the door, so every time it... More

We ordered two pizzas for carryout. We had the greek pizza on a thin crust it was very good but next time I would have it on original crust. My son absolutely loved the choice cut waldo specialty pizza on original crust. This was our first time having Waldo Pizza and I would absolutely return.

This place is a Waldo neighborhood classic. The pizza is great, huge beer selection, and excellent deserts. Very eclectic staff offering wonderful service. Good family atmosphere, but definitely not a Chucky Cheese. Pizza buffet is a good lunch value.

I'm proud to say that we eat here weekly. We crave it, when we can't get there on. Sunday evening or Monday night, we are very sad. This local fav offers delicious pizza, quality beer list, and a tiny but tasty salad bar (best ranch dressing in town, by the way). Monday's offer an amazing special-$9 large, plus, if you... More

Extensive menu. Any kind of pizza you can dream of. What we had was excellent. When you first walk in, it seems kind of sketchy as far as cleanliness goes. And maybe it isn't up to code, but hey, the pizza was great. One section was very loud and another was just loud. If you are looking for a quiet... More

My husband and I found Waldo Pizza while looking for a good neighborhood joint. This was recommended to us and definitely did not disappoint. We easily found the list of toppings online and crafted our own toppings (almonds are awesome!). Despite the fairly long list of specialty toppings our 12-inch pizza rang up to $21, which while not cheap, was... More

Delivery. Gal on phone said local pig is legit. So I ordered that and a salad. Extra ranch as usual. Delivery was on time. Pizza hot and fresh. Salad was good. I did not not like the pizza. It did not taste like pizza. More like a Mexican spicy dinner. This does not effect my review though. Just not my... More

Horrible customer service and, generally, a filthy business.
