Description: "In the five years since Waldo Pizza last won this category, Phil Bourne's KC institution has inched nearer the quarter-century mark with an ever-growing beer list, a popular gluten-free crust and yet another expansion of the original site. What hasn't changed: the place's dead-solid reliability. That might sound like faint praise, until you remember the second law of restaurant thermodynamics: entropy. Even beloved destinations occasionally coast, sometimes to a full stop. Not Waldo Pizza, where Bourne and a crew including not just regulars but lifers keep vigil over the details while attending devoutly to customers. A wall of Saturday-night families, a switchboard lit up with delivery orders, a keg about to run dry — none of these eventualities lead to so much as a stray green-pepper sliver when your pie shows up in front of you. But bring on the green peppers — and the banana peppers and the spicy beef and the cheddar and everything else on a menu that's long on good ideas." Pitch

Waldo Pizza is an old standby for many in the Waldo/Brookside area. They have regular crust but also a very good thin pizza crust.

Three dough varieties (St. Louis style, original, pie) and respectable salad bar make Waldo Pizza a Kansas City favorite. This is not fast food, and you may have to wait to get a table, but the wait is worth it.

We ordered an extra large pizza (hoping for the huge slices) with their usual sauce, and it came out sliced in some oddball way that had the middle cut in squares (get your fork out for pizza?), and the outside cut in slices around the edges (who thought of this?). It was thin crust, which we like, and the sauce... More

We love Waldo. It's a great, bustling neighborhood pizza joint with funky servers and a comfortable divey vibe. The menu is delicious-- with lots of pizza, salad, and sandwich options to please a diverse crowd. If you're gluten-free, rejoice. Their menu includes a handful of Gluten-free drinks (beer and cider), as well as a gluten-free pizza crust AND gf desserts!... More

Waldo's accepts reservations or call-ahead seating. I would recommend one of these two options! We had a party of six adults and a baby and were able to be seated immediately with call-ahead seating while people walking in off the street had a 50-60 minute wait. The pizza was fantastic. Some of the best we have ever had. The combination... More

Best value for lunch is a sandwich with trip through the salad bar for a side. Very casual friendly place full of locals.

This is a family owned restaurant. They are so accommodating to families and groups such as soccer parties. They really are chill and the food is great. Always the go to place for kids events.

I drove forever and didn't see *any* place that I thought I might like to eat and drink at and then I find this nice strip of shops with Waldo Pizza right in the middle of it. Kind of an older place with nice decor on the wall. They had a buffet but we skipped that and ordered from the... More

The best pizza in the Brookside/Waldo area - Maybe in all of KC!! I prefer the St. Louis style thin crust. They also offer gluten free (have them twice bake it). There is a great tap room with excellent beer choices - always something new to choose from - ask Jake.

Waldo pizza has lots of options on their menu. From 4 different crusts to a plethora of toppings, there is something for everyone. They even offer vegan options. The service is good, and the atmosphere light and fun. There is a second location 20 minutes east of Kansas City in Lees Summit, Missouri. Hands down it is the best pizza... More
