Really really good

At Michael Smith's we did the tasting menu with wine pairings and would very much recommend this option. We had the opportunity to taste many very flavorful and unique dishes all of which were paired with a nice variety of wines.

My boyfriend and I went for an anniversary dinner. The wine selection was amazing and everything we ordered was wonderful! We shared a few small plates and an entree. It was wonderful! The inside is beautiful and very cozy. We will return whenever we are in town.

I love the out-of-the-way place and easy parking. Most excellent restaurants are difficult to get into and park. This is a gem that's easy. Great food, exceptional waitstaff, fine wines, and a downtown space that doesn't rely on its address. You won't be sorry.

This place was a total bust on a Saturday night back in May. The restaurant was half full and service was very slow. The first course was an artichoke soup, although flavorful, we discovered the flavor was from over-salting. The next day, we had 2 # of fluid retention and could not get our rings on. Portions, I had AUSTRALIAN... More

We were there for a wedding rehearsal party and were in a private dining room with a fixed menu. Our salad had a light lemon dressing and was paired with a delicious white wine that enhanced the flavors of the salad. The choices for dinner were steak or halibut. Everyone raved about their dinners and the wines that were paired... More

We went on a very slow Tuesday night. A majority of the tables were empty, which was perfect. Most of the crowd was on the other side at the Extra Virgin bar and patio (no outdoor seating at Michael Smith). Our server was great, which really made for an enjoyable evening. Solid wine recommendations, knowledgeable about the menu and how... More

I have always had good experiences here. Our last meal was consistent with past visits. The setting is soft and quiet, the service is attentive, and the food almost always sublime. My wife had the sea bass, perfectly cooked, and accompanied with lentils, mushrooms and sunchokes. I tried one of my two favorites on the menu, the arctic char. It... More

We stopped in on Friday night. My husband had the rabbit gnocchi and he thought it was really good. I had the chicken and thought it was good. It was perfectly cooked with 2 sides, Brussel sprout slaw and Gratin. The brussel sprout slaw was my least favorite of the sides. To me the flavors in the slaw did not... More

Being an Italian, I am used to avoid Italian restaurants abroad, therefore I was not confident when a friend of mine invited me for "The Big Night" with Italian menu at Michael Smith. I had excellent food, much better than in a lot of restaurants in Italy, at a decent price (the fixed price/menu formula is really convenient), a good... More

We visited for my 49th birthday. I started with the sautéed bay scallops and then moved on to the sea bass and eight hour pork roast. I finished up with the apple tart. Everything was delicious. The scallops were excellent and my favorite. I love this place. Very nice for a quiet adult dinner. The staff is helpful and answers... More
