Really good food...but lacks personality

We stopped in on Friday night. My husband had the rabbit gnocchi and he thought it was really good. I had the chicken and thought it was good. It was perfectly cooked with 2 sides, Brussel sprout slaw and Gratin. The brussel sprout slaw was my least favorite of the sides. To me the flavors in the... read more

Being an Italian, I am used to avoid Italian restaurants abroad, therefore I was not confident when a friend of mine invited me for "The Big Night" with Italian menu at Michael Smith. I had excellent food, much better than in a lot of restaurants in Italy, at a decent price (the fixed price/menu formula is really convenient), a good... More

We visited for my 49th birthday. I started with the sautéed bay scallops and then moved on to the sea bass and eight hour pork roast. I finished up with the apple tart. Everything was delicious. The scallops were excellent and my favorite. I love this place. Very nice for a quiet adult dinner. The staff is helpful and answers... More

Went to Michael Smith with another couple on a visit to KC. Great setting, amazing wine list, very very good food. The Smiths are very involved and we got to meet and talk with both of them. We shared plates and enjoyed everything - the rabbit gnocchi, black truffle pasta, and pork cheeks were amazing. Great evening!

My mother and I went to Michael Smith's for "Restaurant Week" but upon seeing the regular menu, we opted for the six course tasting. When you select this option, it's Chef's choice, however the waitstaff will inquire as to whether you have any preferences or food allergies. We started with an amuse bouche of Salted Cod pate with a delicate,... More

It's wonderful when you go gourmet and the food and service make it worth the money. We'll be back to Michael Smith. Loved the robust flavors of the beet salad, boiled egg with truffle, arctic char, eight hour pork roast and gnocci rabbit. Suggest you eye the room and ask for a table location for more privacy as our table... More

We enjoyed every part of this meal! Standouts were the pork roast, beet salad and potato soup. Each had a very unique combination of flavor. Wine list and service were also very good. Decor is modern and very nice. We will definitely go back! If you go as a family, know that the prices are a little on the high... More

New to us anyway - we've since learned that many of the locals love this Crossroads gem and it's sister 'small plate' restaurant next door. The menu was varied with a lot of interesting flavors. Everything tasted so fresh and bright. The decor was elegantly modern, but not noisy. We had a great pre-New Year's dinner before heading to see... More

We went to the restaurant between Christmas and New Years. We were greeted warmly and sat right away. We had all decided to order multiple courses so we could try several things. By far the best plate of the nite was the Rabbit gnocchi,,,,,it's was fantastic. Everything we had was very well done and we happily passed it around so... More

Get the tasting menu and have your dinner mate do the same. We got the 4 course tasting menu and got to try 4 entrees in the process - all incredible! Our favorites were the pork roast and short rib. If you're feeling European, get the cheese tasting for dessert!
